XRP supply tightens beneath strengthening spot participation
XRP supply conditions had already tightened considerably before the market started confronting stronger resistance pressure near major breakout regions recently. Institutional accumulation also continued strengthening while price momentum gradually slowed beneath overhead liquidity conditions.

That structure increasingly reflected stronger long-term accumulation as nearly 898 million XRP became locked within ETF products. However, XRP still struggled to sustain momentum above the broader $1.50–$1.52 resistance region despite tightening available supply.

Slower breakout participation increasingly suggested larger sellers remain active beneath overhead liquidity zones across markets.

Artificial intelligence agents settling payments have gone from concept to reality in the last 12 months, with $73 million settled across 176 million transactions from May last year through April 2026, according to crypto investment firm Keyrock.

In a report released Thursday, written in collaboration with crypto exchange Coinbase and the blockchain Tempo, Keyrock researcher Ben Harvey said that “in the past 12 months, machine-to-machine payments have gone from concept to a developed ecosystem.”

“Agents have settled over $73 million across 176 million transactions, and incumbents have deployed more than $8 billion in acquisitions to secure their position in what is emerging as an entirely new payment stack,” Harvey added.
AI agents are becoming increasingly popular among crypto users. Some crypto executives have speculated that AI agents settling transactions could drive adoption and transaction volumes, with Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire predicting in January that billions of AI agents will operate with stablecoins on users' behalf within five years.

Traditional payment rails too slow and expensive

By the end of the first quarter this year, there were more than 104,000 agents registered across 15 or more directories and registries, according to Harvey. The average transaction size was about 31 cents.

“That number tells you almost everything about why traditional payment rails can’t serve this market. A fixed processing fee of roughly 30 cents per transaction makes sub-dollar payments uneconomical. An agent paying three cents for a weather API call can’t route through Visa,” Harvey said.

“Stablecoins won the settlement layer for machine commerce almost by default; they were the only instrument that could handle sub-dollar transactions without the economics collapsing.”

When one of the world's wealthiest universities makes an apparently sudden and unexpected reshuffle of its crypto holdings, it tends to make a splash. On that note, Harvard's endowment fully liquidated its $87 million Ethereum (ETH0.84%) exchange-traded fund (ETF) position in the first quarter of this year, and slashed its stake in its Bitcoin (BTC+0.61%) vehicle, the iShares Bitcoin Trust, (IBIT2.36%) by 43%. The Ethereum holding only lasted a single quarter.

Bearish positioning had already become heavily crowded before Bitcoin’s broader market structure started showing deeper signs of instability beneath the surface. Traders also grew increasingly uncertain once ETF outflows kept weakening spot demand across already fragile liquidity conditions.

U.S. Spot Bitcoin ETFs later recorded another roughly $105.2 million in daily outflows while weekly selling moved beyond nearly $850 million. Coinbase Premium also remained negative, reflecting softer institutional participation.

Yet derivatives activity continued to stay elevated as Open Interest remained high beneath compressed volatility conditions. That setup increasingly reflected a market driven more by leverage positioning than confident spot convictions.

Some whales still appear positioned for deeper downside continuation, while others increasingly prepare for violent reversal volatility once leverage clears.

Bitcoin now sits between weakening spot demand and overcrowded leverage conditions that could break sharply in either direction.

XRP rose 3.91% to $1.36 in 24 hours as the wider crypto market recovered alongside Bitcoin. The move came as Bitcoin gained 3.01%, while total crypto market value also rose by more than 3%.

The rebound placed XRP back above the $1.33 support area after a recent pullback below $1.30. However, the move showed no clear XRP-only catalyst. Instead, the token followed the broader market bounce, while traders watched resistance near $1.40 and $1.42.

XRP Price Follows Bitcoin-Led Recovery

XRP’s latest gain came as major digital assets moved higher after recent market stress. Bitcoin led the recovery, and several large-cap altcoins moved in the same direction. XRP slightly outpaced Bitcoin, though its price action stayed closely tied to wider market sentiment.

The move followed earlier pressure linked to weak risk demand and spot Bitcoin ETF outflows. However, the latest rebound suggests traders returned to large-cap crypto assets after oversold conditions. Santiment-linked market commentary also pointed to renewed interest after the sharp pullback.

XRP had dropped below $1.30 during the recent decline, marking its lowest level since early April. The recovery to $1.36 helped the token regain part of those losses. Even so, XRP remains below several key technical levels that traders continue to monitor.

For now, the $1.33 level remains the main support zone. A firm hold above that area could allow XRP to retest $1.42. However, a break below $1.33 could expose the token to another move toward $1.2

Currently, the primary resistance remains the $1.75-$1.85 supply region, while stronger resistance is located around the 200-day MA near $2.0. On the downside, the key support sits around the $1.10-$1.20 demand zone.

The most probable scenario in the near term is continued compression around the 100-day MA at $1.38, followed by an impulsive breakout. A bullish breakout above the descending channel and $1.40-$1.45 area could trigger recovery toward the $1.75-$1.85 resistance region. Conversely, rejection from current levels may reinforce the broader bearish trend and expose lower supports once again.

The 4-hour chart presents a clearer range-bound structure. $XRP has been oscillating between support around the $1.27-$1.30 zone and resistance near $1.53-$1.57 for several weeks, forming a relatively stable consolidation range.

Most recently, the price revisited the lower boundary of this range near $1.30, triggering another bullish reaction.
