Stellar’s DTCC partnership sparks 44% XLM rally — What’s next?
Stellar’s native token $XLM rallied by 44% this week after the chain was selected by the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) for its tokenization plans.

The DTCC is the clearing and trade settlement house for global financial markets. The firm’s custodied assets will be tokenized and made available on Stellar from early 2027.

Commenting on the update, Denelle Dixon, CEO and Executive Director of the Stellar Development Foundation, said the chain is meant for this. He added,

Stellar’s proven compliance-minded architecture, open infrastructure, and risk management capabilities are aligned with market demands and expectations.

Nomura breaks into US crypto banking as Laser Digital secures OCC conditional approval
Laser Digital, the subsidiary of Nomura Investment Bank, a large Japanese institution, has been given conditional approval for a trust bank charter for the USA. This is a first for any subsidiary of a Japanese financial institution.

The company with headquarters in Zurich, boasting assets of over $250 million, filed for the federal charter in January. With the completion of the conditional charter, Laser Digital will be able to custody and manage tokenized, digital, and traditional assets under federal supervision.

Nasdaq Bitcoin index options got the SEC's green light on May 22, 2026. It's the first time a US national securities exchange has cleared options tied to a multi-venue BTC index. The contracts trade as QBTC and settle in cash — meaning you never need to touch actual crypto.

TL;DR

The SEC approved Nasdaq PHLX to list cash-settled Bitcoin index options on May 22, 2026, under the ticker QBTC.

Unlike Bitcoin ETFs, QBTC lets traders bet on BTC's price without owning or storing any actual crypto.

Each QBTC contract tracks one-hundredth of a real-time Bitcoin price index — far more accessible than CME's 5-bitcoin futures contracts.
