Bitcoin And Ethereum Bled This Week - But These 4 Altcoins Jumped, One Up 157%
Artificial intelligence-focused Allora led this week’s crypto gainers with a 157.5% rally, while RollX, LAB, and Humanity posted gains between 87% and 113%.

The gains came despite weakness in the two largest cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin falling more than 3% and Ethereum losing over 4% during the past week.

Crypto trader Don Wedge said the moves could signal an early rotation into altcoins, though he cautioned that a broader altcoin season has not yet been confirmed.

While Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) bled this week but four altcoins ripped higher stoking debate over whether capital is finally rotating into smaller tokens.

AI-focused Allora's price (ALLO) led the group with a 157.5% weekly gain as investor interest in artificial intelligence (AI)-linked projects continued to attract capital. On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment around ALLO remained in the ‘extremely bullish’ zone, while chatter around it stayed ‘extremely high over the past day.

ROLL’s price, the governance and utility token of decentralized trading platform RollX, climbed 113.5% over the past week. On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment around ROLL stayed in the ‘bullish’ zone, while chatter around it remained in the ‘low’ levels over the past day.

Likewise, LAB’s price, the native token of multi-chain trading terminal LAB, which lets users trade across Solana (SOL), Ethereum, and BNB Chain from a single interface, rose 106.2% over the last seven days. On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment around LAB moved to ‘extremely bullish’ from ‘bullish’ zone, while chatter around it moved to ‘extremely high’ from ‘high’ levels over the past day.

Humanity (H), a digital identity platform that uses palm-scanning technology to verify users on-chain, gained 87.5% over the week.

Why is there suddenly so much hype around real-world crypto use cases?

From the structural standpoint, crypto is clearly moving from pure speculation into more practical applications, things like DeFi expansion, tokenization, stablecoins, and broader infrastructure development. These shifts are pulling in a lot of institutional capital as TradFi and DeFi continue to converge.

But beyond just driving institutional inflows, Vitalik Buterin recently offered another angle in a recent interview. He suggested that expanding real on-chain usage is also about reducing excess leverage in the system and encouraging more fundamentals-driven growth, with Ethereum at the center of this transition.
From a fundamentals perspective, Ethereum [ETH] still leads DeFi momentum. 

As the chart shows, 50%+ of the $30 billion+ in RWA value is on Ethereum, pointing to strong institutional flows into the network, as more TradFi players use Ethereum as the base layer for tokenizing assets. A similar dominance shows up in stablecoins as well, where 50%+ of on-chain liquidity is still on the network. 

In this context, Vitalik Buterin’s comments around these structural shifts become more relevant. Even with Ethereum’s dominance across key sectors, institutional inflows would typically be expected to reflect more directly in ETH price strength. Instead, the ongoing technical underperformance keeps the “ETH as a speculative asset” debate in play.
