1. What Is Meteora? Meteora is a DeFi liquidity protocol on Solana, dedicated to building the most secure, sustainable, and composable liquidity layer for Solana and DeFi. By utilizing Meteora's DAMM v1/v2, DLMM, and DBC pools, liquidity providers can reap optimal fees and capital returns, thereby bringing sustainable long-term liquidity to the platform.2. How Does Meteora Work? Originally launched in 2021 under the name Mercurial Finance, the project was rebranded to Meteora in 2022. Its main DeFi products include: - DLMM Pool: Dynamic Liquidity Market Maker (DLMM) allows LPs to earn dynamic fees by leveraging volatility and precise liquidity concentration. - Dynamic AMM Pool: It supports constant product AMM with token prices ranging from 0 to infinity. LPs can earn additional yield by utilizing lending sources and traditional swap fees, enhancing their returns. - Memecoin Pool: A subset of dynamic AMM pools designed to support the launch and liquidity of memecoins. - M3M3 Pool: A pool with staking mechanisms that allow top token stakers to earn swap fees from locked liquidity. - Meteora Launch Pool: A DLMM pool specifically designed for new token launches. 5. Timeline of Key Milestones
In December 2022, Mercurial was rebranded to Meteora with plans to improve its branding, governance, etc. Mercurial's lending vaults and AMM were launched as independent projects under the name Meteora, and a DAO was introduced to allow token holders to participate in project governance.
In April 2025, Meteora announced the launch of the DAMM V2 token release platform optimized for liquidity providers, supporting SPL and Token2022 standards, and enabling single-sided token issuance.
In June 2025, Meteora announced two upgrades: Creators can receive fees immediately after platform release without waiting for token launches. Additionally, Meteora will migrate fee parameters, allowing partners to customize liquidity flows from joint curves to AMM, suitable for teams aiming to capitalize on DAO or strategically allocate fundraising.
In October 2025, the Meteora token was officially launched.
