1. What Is Cetus? Cetus is a decentralized trading and liquidity protocol for the Sui ecosystem, providing trading, market-making, aggregated routing, and asset-issuance infrastructure for users and developers. The project originated in the Move ecosystem, and its current core products are centered on concentrated liquidity, discrete liquidity, automated position management, and intent trading on Sui. 2. How Does Cetus Work? Cetus has expanded from a traditional DEX into a suite of trading and liquidity tools including an aggregator, Infinity Pools, Cetus Vault, Intent Trading, and Asset Launch. The protocol provides concentrated liquidity pools and a market-making framework, automated position management, limit and DCA-style intent orders, and new asset launch tooling. Its services also encompass on-chain and hybrid infrastructure for routing, aggregation, quoting, and liquidity and position management. 3. Who Founded Cetus? The Cetus Protocol team continuously develops and maintains the Cetus protocol and frontend products. Cetus completed a seed round of an undisclosed amount in May 2023, followed by an additional investment of an undisclosed amount in February 2024. 4. Cetus Tokenomics CETUS has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens, allocated as follows: Community & Liquidity Providers 50%, Team & Advisors 20%, Investors 15%, and Liquidity Treasury 15%. The Team & Advisors allocation is locked for 12 months, then released monthly over 24 months; the Investors allocation is locked for 6 months, then released monthly over 12 months. CETUS can be instantly converted to non-transferable xCETUS at a 1:1 ratio; redeeming xCETUS back to CETUS requires a vesting period of 15 to 180 days, with the exchange ratio scaling from 1:0.5 to 1:1 as the vesting period lengthens. xCETUS is used for staking rewards, ecosystem activities, and protocol governance, with a portion of staking rewards supported by net protocol trading fee revenue. 5. Timeline of Key Milestones • Early stage: Cetus enters the market as a liquidity protocol for the Move ecosystem, progressively building its trading and market-making infrastructure. • May 2025: A security incident occurs in the Cetus CLMM pools; the team subsequently completes the vulnerability patch, additional audits, fund recovery, and a compensation arrangement, and restarts the protocol on June 8, 2025. • 2026: Cetus continues to offer aggregated trading, liquidity pools, Vaults, and intent trading products on Sui.​
