Circle has agreed to acquire Singapore-based cross-border payments platform Tazapay; the deal is expected to close in 2027.
Completion of the deal will also be subject to standard closing conditions and approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Circle said in an announcement on Tuesday.
Tazapay processes over $25 billion in payments on an annualized basis and serves over 60 bank and fintech partners, providing local payout infrastructure in more than 100 markets. In August 2025, the company reported its annualized payment volume was $10 billion.
Circle had previously invested in Tazapay, including participating in the startup's Series B round in August 2025, bringing total funds raised to $57.9 million, according to Traxcn data. Ripple, the XRP issuer, was also an investor in that round.
According to Circle, stablecoins account for about 60% of Tazapay's transaction volume. The company said the acquisition will expand its capabilities to send and receive payments into and out of the Asia-Pacific region and emerging markets.
"This acquisition will expand Circle's capabilities to initiate and settle payments around the world – nearly instantly and 24/7 – and is a meaningful step in making $USDC the standard payments infrastructure for cross-border trade," said Irfan Ghanchi, Senior Vice President of Payments at Circle.
Since 2025, Tazapay has been a development partner for the Circle Payments Network. Circle said Tazapay customers should not experience any disruption to services, APIs, pricing, or support.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Circle did not immediately respond to Cointelegraph's request for comment.
Shares of Circle (CRCL), trading on the NYSE, were down more than 2% in pre-market trading on Tuesday at last check, according to Yahoo Finance.
