Bitcoin Suisse plans to relocate up to half of its Swiss jobs abroad as the crypto-financial services company expands its international operations.
Founded in Zug in 2013, the company provides cryptocurrency trading, asset custody, staking, and lending services. The restructuring could affect up to 60 of the company's 120 positions in Switzerland, primarily in back-office and administrative functions, according to a Friday report by Swiss financial outlet Finews.
The affected functions are expected to be moved to lower-cost centers in Bratislava and Vietnam, where Bitcoin Suisse plans to establish a new hub in the coming years. CEO Andria Madgen said costs were a key driver of the decision, telling Finews that providing the affected services in these two countries would be significantly cheaper.
Madgen added that the restructuring was not a reaction to crypto market weakness, but rather part of Bitcoin Suisse's strategy for international expansion and building a broader wealth and asset management business.
In June, the company announced its expansion beyond the Swiss market, targeting institutional clients, family offices, asset managers, and high-net-worth individuals as part of its transition to a global wealth management platform.
Earlier this year, Bitcoin Suisse also obtained licenses in Liechtenstein and Bermuda, and its Middle Eastern subsidiary received full regulatory approval in Abu Dhabi in July.
