The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ($BTC), has been experiencing a surge in recent days, influenced by the ceasefire talks between the US and Iran.

After rising above $76,000, $BTC, as it has for a long time, encountered resistance and was rejected, falling back to the $74,000 level.

While bullish expectations continue due to $BTC’s recent movements, one analyst has warned of a major drop.

At this point, popular analyst Ali Martinez said that Bitcoin is at a critical juncture.

According to Martinez, Bitcoin has once again tested the 100-day moving average (SMA), which is considered a significant resistance level.

Sharing his latest analysis from account X, the analyst stated that for the third time in the last six months, $BTC has retested the 100-day SMA level on the daily chart as a resistance point.

He added that $BTC absolutely needs to hold the $73,000 level to sustain its upward momentum.

The analyst noted that the market failed to hold this level twice, once in October last year and again in January this year, and said that if it doesn’t break this resistance permanently this time, further declines could occur.

Martinez warned that a failure of the current retest could form a triple top pattern. This pattern could potentially send the Bitcoin price back to its all-time low of $59,000.

Conversely, if $BTC breaks this resistance and establishes a sustained position above the 100-day SMA, the price could rise to the $80,000-$84,000 range, he stated.

Bitcoin Developers Propose Bitcoin Quantum Migration Plan That Would Freeze Legacy Coins

BIP-361 proposes migrating Bitcoin away from legacy cryptographic signatures to quantum-resistant alternatives through a phased deadline that could eventually make unmigrated coins permanently unspendable.

A new proposal circulating among Bitcoin developers is forcing the network to confront a long-standing theoretical risk: the impact of quantum computing on its cryptographic foundations.

Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 361 (BIP-361), introduced by a group of researchers including Jameson Lopp, outlines a structured plan to migrate the network away from legacy signature schemes and toward quantum-resistant alternatives. If adopted, the proposal would impose a phased deadline that could ultimately render unmigrated coins permanently unspendable.

The proposal aims to reduce Bitcoin’s exposure to a future scenario in which sufficiently advanced quantum computers can break the elliptic curve cryptography that underpins its current system.

“Even if Bitcoin is not a primary initial target of a cryptographically relevant quantum computer, widespread knowledge that such a computer exists and is capable of breaking Bitcoin’s cryptography will damage faith in the network,” the BIP authors wrote.

Today, Bitcoin relies on ECDSA and Schnorr signatures to secure transactions. Both remain robust against classical computing but are theoretically vulnerable to Shor’s algorithm, which could allow an attacker to derive private keys from exposed public keys. This risk is not evenly distributed across the network. Older address types, particularly pay-to-public-key outputs and reused addresses, reveal public keys onchain and are considered the most vulnerable.

Paxos Labs has raised $12 million to solve what the project calls DeFi’s ‘product problem.’ Notably, Paxos Labs is a spin-off of the crypto infrastructure firm Paxos. 

Through its new Amplify, Paxos Labs believes it can make it super easy for users to earn yield, borrow, and lend assets at scale.

‬Ethereum could be set for a bull rally, with technical indicators pointing to a critical juncture, according to a prominent market analyst.

In an analysis posted on X, Ali Martinez highlighted that ETH is currently testing the upper resistance line of an ascending triangle formation on the daily chart. The price action is robust, yet the TD Sequential tool is displaying a sell signal. This identical warning preceded a pullback to support the last time the asset traded near $2,400.

Nevertheless, the cryptocurrency has reclaimed its 100-day simple moving average, which the analyst interprets as evidence of solid underlying strength.

Martinez is now focusing on a daily close above $2,480. Such a move would likely invalidate the bearish TD signal and confirm a breakout from the triangle pattern, paving the way for a possible rally toward $2,900.

If Ethereum maintains support above $2,180 and successfully breaches the $2,400 resistance, it could extend gains to $2,750. Should it fail to defend that support, however, a retest of the $2,030 area cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile, Ethereum is up 6.83% to $2,358.40 over the past 24h, outpacing Bitcoin’s 4.74% gain and a broader market rally, driven by easing geopolitical tensions and strong institutional ETF inflows.

Geopolitical de-escalation hopes and a sharp reversal in ETF flows shifted capital from Bitcoin to Ethereum, with ETH spot ETFs recording their strongest weekly inflows of 2026, totaling $187 million. A risk-on rotation into altcoins, evidenced by a rising ETH/BTC ratio, combined with a surge in on-chain utility, where daily transactions jumped 41% week-over-week.

Sun also pointed out that the system where tokens are permanently locked if an opposing vote is cast is problematic. This is because those who vote against the motion will have their tokens permanently locked.

Sun reacted by saying, “If you oppose this proposal, you will be punished. This is not a vote. This is coercion. What democratic process rewards compromise and punishes opposition?”
