Bitcoin Price Prediction: How Low Will BTC Fall After Latest Rejection at $73K?

Bitcoin is trading around $71k as global markets enter a cautious holding pattern. Investors are closely watching whether the recently announced US-Iran ceasefire will hold and how its resolution might affect broader risk sentiment.

Until there is greater geopolitical clarity, crypto markets appear content to consolidate rather than commit to a directional move.

Bitcoin Price Analysis: The Daily Chart

The daily chart continues to show a long-term downtrend. $BTC is trading inside a descending channel and below both the 100-day MA (~$75k) and 200-day MA (~$87k). The $75k–$80k resistance band remains the primary ceiling as it has rejected every recovery attempt since the February crash. Both moving averages are declining as well, which is a sign that the broader trend has not yet turned.

That said, the RSI has been trending higher since the February lows and is now hovering above 50. This indicates that the momentum is still dominated by buyers, but only marginally. The support area at $60k continues to be the most important level buyers need to defend, as a breakdown could push the price toward the $55k area. On the other hand, a push above $75k-$80k on strong volume would be the first meaningful signal that the trend is shifting.

The short-term rising channel that has been forming since the February lows remains the dominant structure on the 4-hour chart, with the asset currently at $71k. The $74-$76k area has recently rejected lower, and the market is at risk of a revisit to the lower boundary of the pattern, currently around

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda's cautious wording significantly reduced market bets on a rate hike this month.

Speaking at a conference in Tokyo on Monday, Ueda emphasized rising uncertainty in the Middle East and stressed that the Bank of Japan would closely monitor developments and their potential impact on economic activity, prices, and financial conditions. As Ueda was in Washington attending a series of meetings of global policymakers, his speech was read by Deputy Governor Ryozo Himino.

Following the speech, overnight swap market data showed that traders' bets on a Bank of Japan rate hike on April 28th plummeted from 45% on Monday morning to about 33%, compared to nearly 60% on Friday. This rapid correction in market expectations reflects the direct impact of escalating geopolitical risks on the outlook for monetary policy. Following the announcement, the USD/JPY exchange rate rose 0.24% to 159.68 yen.


The key change in Ueda's speech this time was the marked difference in his phrasing compared to previous statements.  In his past public statements, he repeatedly emphasized that if the economic outlook unfolds as expected, the Bank of Japan will proceed with interest rate hikes, rarely mentioning future uncertainties in his remarks.

However, in this speech, while reiterating the unchanged policy stance from the March meeting, Ueda highlighted "close monitoring of the situation in the Middle East" as a key point, using more cautious language. Bloomberg believes this subtle shift in language may reflect rising concerns within the Bank of Japan—the failure to reach an agreement between the US and Iran last weekend has exacerbated the risk of a prolonged conflict.
