Price Momentum: Ethereum (ETH) Sweeps the Lows and Roars Back to $2.4K

Ethereum (ETH) is trading at $2,483, up 3.3%, with 24-hour volume of $14.28 billion. The session saw a dip to $2,324 that swept stop-losses below $2,350 before a quick bounce, alongside $93.31 million in 24-hour liquidations. This sweep-and-reclaim pattern suggests underlying strength rather than genuine selling pressure, with a possible bullish divergence forming. ETH has reclaimed the $2,440 area, where old resistance has flipped to support, and a rising trendline is holding the price up. Momentum could push ETH toward resistance at $2.5K, and a further breakout might trigger a golden cross, potentially lifting the price above $2,584. Conversely, if bears take over, immediate support sits near $2.3K, and a deeper correction could produce a death cross and drive prices lower. On the four-hour chart, the MACD line has crossed above the signal line, though both remain below zero, signalling a bullish shift within a broader downtrend and an early buy signal pending confirmation. The daily RSI at 50.64 indicates a neutral, balanced market awaiting a catalyst, with moves above 55 favouring bulls and below 45 favouring bears. In market news, Coinbase and Kalshi face access restrictions in Taiwan over election betting.

Four-Year Unlocking Period for This Altcoin Concluded: New Supply Volume May Decrease by 60%

Aptos' much-anticipated four-year token unlocking period has concluded. The vesting schedule, which began with the mainnet launch on October 12, 2022 and covered initial investors and core developers, has now ended. According to the project's official tokenomics, this completion is expected to result in an approximately 60% reduction in the annual inflation of new token supply. This change removes the new supply influx that previously occurred from the regular unlocks for these two major groups in the initial distribution.

After the Attack, This Altcoin Plunged 92%: Millions of Tokens Were Issued and Then Converted to Ethereum

The THEO token on the Base network experienced one of the sharpest drops in its history following a suspicious minting event. According to blockchain security firm PeckShield, an attacker generated 19 million THEO tokens. These newly minted tokens were then sold on the market and converted into approximately 700.8 ETH, worth around $1.76 million based on transaction prices. The attacker subsequently bridged the acquired ETH from Base to the Ethereum mainnet. The massive sell pressure caused the price of THEO to plummet by roughly 92% within 24 hours. The unauthorized influx of tokens into circulation rapidly diluted the holdings of existing investors and severely eroded market liquidity.

The "Shotgun" Strategy Is Failing: Crypto Enters the Era of Value Investing

The article argues that the "spray and pray" investment strategy in crypto—buying many tokens hoping some will rise—is now largely ineffective. Data shows that from the bear market bottom to the 2025 peak, the median return for the top 100 tokens was only 0.99x, with most underperforming Bitcoin. The market is shifting from a phase where "everything goes up" to one where a few quality assets consistently outperform. The author attributes this change to an oversupply of tokens competing for limited capital and the increasing influence of institutional money flowing primarily into major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The emerging alternative, according to the author, resembles value investing. They highlight the growing importance of tokens backed by protocols with real revenue that actively buy back and burn their own tokens. Data indicates tokens with consistent buybacks have significantly outperformed others. The article outlines a framework for evaluating such tokens, focusing on genuine profitability, the proportion of revenue directed to token holders, token unlock schedules versus buyback volume, long-term viability, and sustainable growth not yet priced in. The author's proposed strategy involves holding a concentrated portfolio of a few well-understood tokens from protocols with strong fundamentals and transparent value accrual, supplemented by ZEC as a non-revenue-generating value store for its privacy features. The plan emphasizes buying during market pessimism, measuring performance against Bitcoin, and holding for the long term, accepting that this approach will miss many short-term speculative gains.
