$XRP, ranking fifth among the largest cryptocurrencies, has increased by 6% over the last 24 hours. As the price of $XRP again approaches $1.5, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has published an important study focusing on the $XRP ecosystem.
At this stage, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced the use of XRPL in a pilot study for formal data verification.
According to the official statement, BIS used the $XRP ledger in an experimental blockchain-based system to verify the accuracy of official statistical data.
BIS researchers announced in a new study the development of a proof-of-concept model based on the $XRP Ledger (XRPL) to enhance the verifiability of official economic and financial data.
The system can be used to verify whether official statistics, such as GDP, inflation, and interest rates, have been falsified, as well as to confirm the data source.
The study noted that the system does not record all economic or financial data on the blockchain, i.e., $XRP; instead, a cryptographic fingerprint (hash) is created from the data, and this record is stored on the $XRP ledger. This allows users to verify if their data file matches the original publication and whether the data has been altered.
Reportedly, the prototype developed by BIS researchers completes the publication process in 3-5 seconds and the verification process in 1-2 seconds. However, it was emphasized that the research is still in the technical validation phase, and BIS has not yet made a decision on using XRPL in a real-world system.
Why Was the $XRP Ledger Chosen?
The significance of this study lies in the fact that BIS researchers selected the $XRP Ledger from among numerous blockchains.
The researchers cited low transaction fees, high transaction processing speed, and a favorable development environment for XRPL as reasons for choosing this platform.
In this context, the new study demonstrated that the $XRP Ledger can be used not only as a payment infrastructure but also for verifying data integrity.
In conclusion, although the testing of XRPL conducted by BIS is not a direct confirmation of $XRP adoption, it is seen as an important event in terms of the network's potential for enterprise use.
