Cheongju City, South Korea Requires 7 Exchanges Including Upbit To Provide Details of Encrypted Assets of 8,520 Users Who Owe Local Taxes

On August 22nd, it was reported that the city of Cheongju in South Korea has requested 7 cryptocurrency exchanges, including Upbit and Bithumb, to provide the details of cryptocurrency holdings of 8,520 users who owe more than 1 million Korean won in local taxes. The city plans to confiscate and collect cryptocurrency from the tax evaders.
