a16z crypto introduces Lasso and Jolt to enhance zero-knowledge proof

a16z crypto, the cryptocurrency division of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, has launched Lasso and Jolt, a pair of new tools based on succinct non-interactive argument of knowledge (SNARK). SNARK is a zero-knowledge proof that could facilitate scalable ZK Rollup in layer 2 space, which is often viewed as computationally intensive. Lasso is the main innovation of two research papers by a16z, which adopts the "lookup parameter" mechanism to facilitate faster zero-knowledge proof. It matches specific inputs with corresponding outputs without leaking additional information. The team noted that Lasso introduces a simplified approach to verify SNARK, avoiding tedious manual optimization circuits by performing lookups on a large structured table.
