Non-fungible token (NFT) royalties have caused controversy as collectors are choosing to bypass optional payments. A recent study by Nansen revealed that NFT royalty payments hit a two-year low in June 2023, with only 2,000 ETH ($3.8 million) paid to creators. This decline has been attributed to the emergence of royalty-optional marketplace Blur and the policies of OpenSea.
