Anthropic raises $450M to build next-gen AI assistants

Anthropic, a generative AI startup co-founded by OpenAI veterans, has raised $450 million in a Series C funding round led by Spark Capital. The funding was participated by tech giants including Google, Salesforce and Zoom. Anthropic uses AI to perform conversational and text processing tasks and claims to have more than a dozen customers across industries including healthcare, HR and education. With the new $450 million tranche, Anthropic’s warchest stands at $1.45 billion which nearly tops the list of best-funded startups in AI eclipsed only by OpenAI which has raised over $11.3 billion to date according to CrunchBase.
