Bitcoin slipped back under $64,000 after tapping $66,990. Oil, ETF outflows and Fed nerves are dragging the whole crypto market lower.

Crypto prices are red across the board today. Bitcoin is trading around $63,877, down 1.65% on the day, after failing to break through the $67,000 area earlier this week. $Ethereum, $XRP, $Solana and most other majors followed $Bitcoin lower, and the market has now given back almost the entire gain it built over the past seven days.

Where do crypto prices stand today?

Only three assets in the top 15 are green on the day: Monero, UNUS SED LEO and - barely - nothing else. Zcash is the worst performer of the group, down almost 6% in 24 hours and more than 11% on the week after a heavy run-up.

Hijacked Telegram accounts help attackers contact trusted industry peers and extend the campaign through victims.

The phishing kit supports Windows and macOS, stealing browser keys, system data, and Telegram sessions.

North Korea-linked hacking group BlueNoroff is using fake Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings to profile cryptocurrency users before delivering malware.

Cybersecurity firm JUMPSEC said it recovered and analysed source code from an active phishing kit after its operators exposed JavaScript source maps on live infrastructure. The files showed separate Zoom and Teams lures, wallet-scanning tools, operator controls and malware delivery paths for Windows and macOS.

The attack often begins through a Telegram account that the target already trusts. The hackers take over accounts belonging to crypto contacts, then send a Calendly invitation that leads to a lookalike meeting domain. JUMPSEC described the system as a repeatable victim pipeline because one stolen Telegram session can help the attackers contact the next group of targets.

A Quantum Computer Could One Day Break Crypto Security — Coinbase Is Preparing Now
Coinbase Warns Crypto’s Protection Could Eventually Break

Crypto exchange Coinbase (Nasdaq: COIN) has started preparing its custody systems and infrastructure for a future in which powerful quantum computers could defeat the cryptography protecting Bitcoin, Ethereum and other blockchain networks.

Coinbase Chief Information Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer outlined the company’s position in a July 23 company blog post:

“A large-scale quantum computer capable of breaking current cryptography will eventually be built. No one knows exactly when. But the work to prepare needs to start now, not when it’s urgent.”

The company said its Independent Advisory Board on Quantum Computing and Blockchain has high confidence that a fault-tolerant quantum computer will eventually be developed. Coinbase formed the board to assess long-term quantum risks facing digital assets, according to Coinbase’s quantum advisory board announcement.

“The cryptography that secures virtually every major blockchain is vulnerable when it arrives. The threat is not imminent, but the timeline is genuinely uncertain,” Lunglhofer added.

The warning does not suggest that quantum computers can currently defeat the cryptography securing major blockchains. Instead, Coinbase argues that upgrading global blockchain systems, moving millions of users and replacing vulnerable cryptographic methods could take years, making early preparation essential.

Industry Standards Are Already Shifting

Coinbase’s preparations align with broader cybersecurity efforts. Strategy Reveals Its Resistance Threshold to a Prolonged Bitcoin Decline

Strategy has published a new indicator designed to measure its ability to absorb a sustained market decline. Rather than setting a floor price, the company presents an annual rate of return, allowing the assessment of the strength of its financial structure over several years. This new tool is based on its reserves, its debt, and its financial commitments. In this context, Bitcoin remains at the heart of the Strategy model, which seeks to better explain the conditions under which its financial coverage could remain sufficient despite a market that is durably oriented downward.

In brief

Strategy estimates that its model can withstand an annual decline of 11.34% in Bitcoin before reaching its critical threshold.

The company bases this calculation on its reserves of 843,775 BTC, its net debt, and its preferred shares.

A second threshold set at 10.79% corresponds to the yield needed to cover the effective cost of financing.

The Floor ARR does not trigger liquidation, forced sale of Bitcoin, or automatic restructuring.

According to Michael Saylor, this new indicator is part of creating a new analytical framework for Bitcoin-related capital markets.
