The fight over US crypto legislation is turning into a direct clash between digital-asset firms and one of Washington’s oldest power centers. In an interview with Pete Rizzo, Satoshi Action Fund founder and CEO Dennis Porter said the banking industry is preparing a nine-figure lobbying push that could complicate efforts to advance both market structure legislation and stablecoin rules.

Crypto’s D.C. Outlook Just Got Darker
Porter said the core dispute is no longer just about whether Congress wants to regulate crypto, but on whose terms. President Donald Trump has publicly backed keeping the GENIUS Act intact, Porter noted, which he described as a positive sign for crypto firms. But he argued that support from the White House does not resolve the deeper standoff with banks, especially around stablecoins and the issue of rewards programs that banks view as a threat to deposits.

“The bank lobby has come out and said that they do plan to spend to counteract the crypto industry,” Porter said. “They said they’re raising nine figures, which is right up there with the Fairshake number. So that does create that counterbalance where they can essentially assert themselves into the ecosystem and start to peel some of these lawmakers off.”

That matters because, in Porter’s telling, crypto is entering the fight without a clean political backdrop. He said Democrats have grown more cautious around digital-asset legislation as Trump family involvement in the sector has raised ethics concerns among both lawmakers and voters.

At the same time, he described market structure as a far more expansive and politically difficult package than stablecoin legislation, since it touches not only securities-versus-commodities questions but also DeFi, illicit finance, ethics provisions and the makeup of the CFTC.

Solana’s daily technical outlook shows price trying to stabilize, but still without a convincing trend shift. On the Auto Pitchfork, SOL trades near $85.93 and sits below the median path of the channel. The recent candles hover close to the lower half of the structure rather than advancing toward the upper band.
That suggests the market is holding inside the broader channel, but not yet strong enough to reclaim the centerline as support. In simple terms, Solana is not breaking down outright, yet it also is not showing the type of directional strength that usually precedes a sustained move higher.

Also, the Advance Decline Ratio reading near 0.80 adds another useful detail. A lower ADR value points to subdued daily expansion, which means volatility has cooled and price is moving with less force than during earlier swings. 

Essentially, Solana may be entering a compression phase inside its channel, where support is holding for now, but momentum remains too muted to confirm a breakout. A stronger bullish case would likely require the price to push back toward the pitchfork median and hold above it, instead of continuing to drift in the lower half of the range.

South Korea has started laying the groundwork for a new tracking system designed to impose taxes on profits from cryptocurrency investments.

An AI Crypto Tracking System

According to The Korea Times, the National Tax Service (NTS) announced this Thursday that they are moving ahead with an AI-driven system to track crypto investment gains as they prepare to start taxing virtual asset profits from January 2027. The NTS said that the system “is expected to serve our goal of collecting individuals’ virtual asset transaction data starting in 2027”.

A $2 Million Project

In order to achieve this, the NTS issued a tender for what they call a “Comprehensive System for Virtual Asset Transaction Analysis”. There, they detailed that the project has a budget of around ₩3 billion ($2 million) and that the designing of the system will start in April. A pilot operation for the system should be ready to begin in November, after passing multiple tests runs, and be ready to fully launch between November and December.

The notice was uploaded to an online bidding system run by the Public Procurement Service, the agency in charge of sourcing goods and services for the government and affiliated bodies. A winning contractor is expected to be chosen and signed within this month.
