Anchorage releases first USAT attestation showing $17.6 million in reserves backing Tether’s US stablecoin
USAT’s initial supply remains relatively small compared to market leader USDT’s roughly $184 billion market cap.

USAT CEO Bo Hines has said Tether could become one of the top 10 buyers of U.S. Treasury bills this year as demand for its dollar-backed tokens grows.
Anchorage Digital Bank has released the first reserve attestation for USAT, Tether's federally regulated U.S. stablecoin launched earlier this year, showing $17.6 million in assets backing the token as of Jan. 31.

The report shows 17,501,391 USAT outstanding, backed by $17,604,716 in reserves, roughly 0.6% more than tokens in circulation.

The reserve assets consisted of U.S. dollar cash and reverse repurchase agreements collateralized by U.S. Treasury securities, held in segregated fiduciary trust accounts.

USAT went live on Jan. 27, issued directly by Anchorage Digital Bank, which operates under the supervision of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, distinguishing it from Tether’s flagship USDT token, which is not legally available to U.S. customers.
The attestation marks an early transparency milestone for USAT, which was launched following the passage of the GENIUS Act in July 2025, requiring regulated stablecoins to maintain high-quality, short-term reserve assets such as Treasury bills. Tether has positioned USAT as its U.S.-compliant alternative to USDT, leaning on Anchorage’s federal banking charter to operate inside the American regulatory perimeter.
In a statement, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the release of the first reserve report signals demand for a “resilient, dollar-backed digital asset tailored to the U.S. market.” .......

Turkey's ruling party unveils 10% crypto income tax proposal

Turkey’s ruling AK Party has introduced a sweeping economic bill in parliament that would formalize crypto taxation while revising a range of tax and spending rules.

The draft, now before the Turkish Grand National Assembly, would amend the Income Tax Law and Expenditure Taxes Law to create a new framework for cryptocurrencies, the country’s state news agency Anadolu Ajansı reports.

Crypto platforms regulated under the country’s Capital Markets Law would withhold a 10% tax on gains each quarter, regardless of whether the investor is an individual or company, resident or non-resident.

Service providers would also pay a 0.03% transaction tax on the sale amount or market value of crypto assets they broker.

Crypto brokers and other intermediaries would be on the hook for tax checks based on the records they keep. If a user provides wrong or incomplete information, tax authorities would pursue that person for any shortfall, the news outlet writes.

The bill also makes clear that key terms such as “crypto asset,” “wallet,” and “platform” carry the same meaning as in Turkey’s Capital Markets Law, tying the tax regime to existing financial rules.

The country’s president would also have the power to lower the 10% withholding tax to 0% or raise it to 20%, depending on the type of token, how long it was held, who issued it, or the type of wallet used.

The bill exempts crypto deliveries subject to the transaction tax from value-added tax (VAT) and excludes foundation university hospitals from corporate tax exemptions starting in 2027.

The crypto provisions would take effect two months after publication if approved.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies increased its ether holdings to 4.474 million tokens after purchasing nearly 51,000 ETH last week, bringing its total crypto and cash holdings to $9.9 billion.

The company has 3,040,483 ETH staked, valued at about $6 billion, generating an estimated $172 million in annualized staking revenue that could rise to $253 million at full scale based on recent yields.

Bitmine's ether position represents 3.71% of Ethereum's total supply, and the firm is developing its Made in America Validator Network staking platform, targeted for launch in early 2026 in partnership with three staking providers. Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) on Monday reported purchasing nearly 51,000 more ETH tokens last week, increasing its holdings to 4.474 million.

"In the midst of this 'mini crypto winter,' our focus continues to be on methodically executing our treasury strategy and steadily acquiring ETH and in turn, optimizing the yield on our ETH holdings," said Chairman Tom Lee.
