Sui, a layer-1 blockchain Network native token ($SUI) surged nearly 13% today, climbing above $1.08 with a market cap of $4.35 billion. Making Sui token one of the strongest-performing major altcoins in the market.

The rally comes while Bitcoin and most major altcoins continue trading sideways. Many traders are now wondering if the reason why $SUI token price went up today?

Institutional Staking Creates Supply Shock
One of the biggest catalysts behind today’s rally came from institutional accumulation and staking activity. $SUI Group Holdings, a Nasdaq-listed company, moved its entire 108.7 million $SUI holdings from DeFi protocols into direct staking.

That amount represents roughly 2.7% of $SUI’s circulating supply.

The move significantly reduced the amount of liquid $SUI available on exchanges, tightening available supply while demand increased.

This matters even more because nearly 74% of the total $SUI supply is already staked, meaning only a limited percentage of tokens remain actively tradable in the market.

As fewer tokens become available for selling, buying pressure can push prices higher much faster during periods of rising demand.

Short Liquidations Fuel Price Explosion
Another major driver behind the rally came from derivatives liquidations. Following the staking news, the $SUI market recorded approximately $3.13 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours.

Notably, nearly 90% of those liquidations around $2.91 million came from short traders betting against the rally.

When short positions get liquidated, exchanges automatically buy back assets to close those trades, creating additional upward buying pressure.

At the same time, trading volume surged nearly 90% to around $808 million. This sharp increase in trading activity shows traders are aggressively entering the market again.

While most $XRP price projections in the market are often based on speculation and hype, the leaked model treats the cryptocurrency as a functional tool for banks and institutions. This means that a higher $XRP price is required or even mandated for the system to remain efficient.

Leaked Model Predicts $XRP Price Rally Between $5 and $4,300

In a post on X, Don Digital Finance shared details regarding leaked footage featuring Teucrium CEO Sal Gilbertie. The video captures Gilbertie discussing various legitimate pricing models for $XRP that suggest a valuation range starting from $5 to $4,300.

These pricing models primarily focus on $XRP’s institutional adoption and velocity, which measures how many times it is used within a specific period. Explaining the theory governing the model, Don Digital Finance said that if the $XRP network settles trillions of dollars in global payments, the speed of these transfers would dictate how many tokens must be available at any given second.

Notably, when institutions move large sums of money, they need deep liquidity to prevent the price from swinging wildly during a single trade. This suggests that if $XRP’s price remains low, banks would need to move a massive number of tokens to settle a single multi-billion-dollar payment. This strategy would create a huge functional problem because there are not enough tokens in circulation to support that volume of wealth at a low pr

Analysts Project Major Rise In ETH Price

The price of Ethereum and Bitcoin is currently down as selling pressure increases. However, a crypto analyst on X believes that Ethereum’s price could soon go parabolic once it breaks out of a critical multi-year triangle pattern that has been developing since 2017. 

The analyst described this pattern as a “Golden Triangle,” noting that once ETH breaks above the upper trendline of the formation, its price could rise sharply above $8,500 before pulling back and targeting much higher levels around $12,000 and possibly $48,000. Notably, this represents a rather ambitious forecast, given that Ethereum is currently trading near just $2,200.

Meanwhile, Ted Pillows, a well-known crypto expert, offers a more cautious, modest outlook on Ethereum. He noted that Ethereum has failed to hold onto the $2,400 level for the second time, and as a result, its price could continue to underperform the market. He attributed this bearishness to weakness in spot demand for the cryptocurrency.

However, Pillows predicts that if Ethereum can rise again and break above $2,400, that momentum could push the cryptocurrency toward $2,500 to $2,600. If it exceeds this level as well, the analyst projects a stronger run toward $3,200 to $3,900.

Hyperliquid Policy Center Praises SEC Chair Atkins’ On-Chain Agenda Featuring 4 Key Proposals

The Hyperliquid Policy Center (HPC) praised Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Paul Atkins on Friday for what it described as an ambitious effort to improve clarity for on-chain markets.

SEC’s On-Chain Guidance Agenda

Atkins’ remarks centered on four key areas where he said the Commission should provide more guidance on how regulatory principles translate into the context of on-chain activity. He said that participants should have a clear sense of how on-chain trading systems can function within the regulatory perimeter.

Looking ahead, he noted that while the SEC may consider a limited “innovation pathway” soon, he also argued the agency should think about what a future-proof framework could look like.

In his view, that framework would take the form of notice-and-comment rulemaking, and it would specifically address how the SEC’s “exchange” definition applies to on-chain trading systems.

The SEC chair also pointed to the need to clarify how the broker and dealer framework would apply to these activities. He said the Commission should examine issues raised in a recent staff statement on software interfaces, and he suggested that this policy initiative could involve notice-and-comment exemptive rulemaking.

A third area of emphasis was the definition of a “clearing agency” as it applies to on-chain clearing and settlement. Atkins said rulemaking may be necessary to confirm which general-purpose activities fall outside that definition.

Finally, Atkins called for additional clarity surrounding what are commonly referred to as “crypto vaults.” He described crypto vaults as on-chain software applications that allow users to earn yield passively by deploying their assets into yield-generating opportunities on-chain.

Four years, one lawsuit, and a mixed ruling later, Ripple’s CEO is taking a victory lap. Brad Garlinghouse called a federal judge’s determination that $XRP is not a security one of the most consequential moments in crypto regulation, arguing it opens the door for institutional adoption and clearer rules across the industry.

What the judge actually ruled

The SEC sued Ripple in December 2020, alleging the company sold $XRP as an unregistered security, raising $1.3 billion through those sales.

In July 2023, Judge Analisa Torres delivered a split decision. She found that Ripple’s institutional sales of $XRP did qualify as securities transactions. But programmatic sales of $XRP on public exchanges were not securities.

The SEC initially signaled it would appeal the ruling. Then, in March 2025, the agency dropped the appeal entirely. $XRP surged 10% to $2.55 on that news.

Garlinghouse’s take

During an interview on Fox Business, Garlinghouse called the ruling “brilliant” and declared the saga complete.

“I’m finally able to announce that this case is over. It’s over.”

Garlinghouse highlighted $XRP’s growing institutional use case, suggesting that banks and financial institutions are more willing to adopt assets that come with legal clarity.

The SEC did not immediately comment following the announcement. The court docket also remained unupdated after Garlinghouse’s public statements.

Why this matters beyond $XRP

One risk to monitor: the same ruling that freed programmatic $XRP sales also confirmed that institutional sales were securities violations. Ripple paid a $125M penalty as part of the resolution.

The asset was trading at $1.3849 as of late February 2026 according to MEXC data, well off the $2.55 high it hit when the SEC dropped its appeal.
