The testnet validates the full P2MR lifecycle from address creation and funding to signing, mempool acceptance and confirmation preserving compatibility with Lightning, BitVM, Ark, multisig and timelocks. Super Micro co-founder arrested over alleged $2.5B AI chip smuggling scheme

US authorities say the co-founder of Super Micro Computer, Inc. has been charged and arrested over an alleged multi-billion dollar scheme to smuggle advanced artificial intelligence chips from the US to China.

The Justice Department said in a statement on Thursday that it had unsealed an indictment charging Yih-Shyan “Wally” Liaw, as well as Super Micro sales executives Ruei-Tsang “Steven” Chang, and Ting-Wei “Willy” Sun over the alleged conspiracy.

Prosecutors said the trio violated US export control laws by conspiring “to sell billions of dollars’ worth of servers integrating sensitive, controlled graphic processing units to buyers in China.”

Super Micro, which was not charged, is a $18.5 billion California-based tech company specializing in high-performance server and data center hardware for large-scale companies such as IBM. Its infrastructure partners include firms like Nvidia and Google.

The Justice Department said the alleged scheme involved the trio using a range of concealment techniques to hide the sale of around $2.5 billion worth of servers to a company in China across 2024 and 2025, with $510 million worth of sales occurring between April and May 2025 alone.

“These defendants allegedly fabricated documents, staged bogus equipment to pass audit inventories, and used a pass-through company to conceal their misconduct and true clientele list,” said James Barnacle, Jr., FBI assistant director in charge of the New York Field Office.

Liaw and Sun have been arrested and will stand before a judge in the Northern District of California. Meanwhile, the Justice Department said that Chang, a Taiwanese citizen based outside the US, “remains a fugitive.”

A U.S. appeals court has permitted the state of Nevada to pursue legal action against predictionmarket platform Kalshi. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals denied Kalshi’s request to block a possible temporary restraining order (TRO). If approved, Kalshi may have to stop operating in the state for a short time, likely around two weeks, until the next hearing.

What this Case carries

The problem began in March 2025 when Kalshi received a cease-and-desist order from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Because it believes that sports-related prediction contracts violate state gambling laws, the regulator asked Kalshi to cease providing them. Kalshi countered that federalregulations, not state regulations, govern its products.

With the court decision, Nevada may now issue a temporary restraining order. Legal experts say that this order could come very soon, and Kalshi could be forced to stop operating in Nevada, and the ban could last at least two weeks.

Kalshi warned that it would face serious harm if the court did not intervene. The firm says that it could face multiple legal cases at the same time, and different courts might give conflicting decisions. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) supports Kalshi’s view. The CFTC says it has authority over prediction markets, while states like Nevada believe they also have control, especially for sports-related products.

The court’s decision represents a setback for Kalshi and provides an opportunity for Nevada to take more robust action. The next few days will be important, as a temporary ban on Kalshi in Nevada could be enforced soon. More updates are expected soon as the state court moves forward with the case.

Tom Lee, co-founder of renowned Fundstrat Global Advisors and a cryptocurrency analyst, has stated that Ethereum’s ($ETH) prolonged bear market has ended and that the bottom is now behind it.

Crypto investor Roger Metz’s attempt to block Internal Revenue Service (IRS) summons for his financial records has hit a wall.

The taxman had sought an audit of Metz’s 2022 federal tax return, but the situation quickly escalated.

Although the user initially found the omission by Coinbase and filed an amended tax return for an additional $14,700 for the 2022 period, the agency sought Metz’s entire activity on the platform since its launch.

The watchdog requested additional data, including account information, physical addresses, communications with Coinbase, and detailed platform activity logs.

In response, Metz filed a petition in the Northern District of California last year, seeking to bar the IRS summons. Through his lawyers, he argued that the IRS request was ‘overbroad and irrelevant’ because it was asking for years of personal data that was unrelated to the 2022 tax audit.

For him, the IRS’s overture to access his private communications and account logs was a privacy breach. He added that the taxman acted in ‘bad faith’ because it didn’t communicate with him even after filing the amended 2022 federal tax return.

Court’s grounds for dismissal

However, the court didn’t rule on his privacy arguments or concerns but on procedural guidelines.

On the 18th of March, the US District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín ruled against Roger Metz, stating that he failed to notify relevant government entities of the petition in advance.

Under U.S. procedural guidelines, defendants must be notified of lawsuits to ensure they have time to respond.

In the Metz’s case, apart from the IRS, the local district’s US Attorney, and the AG in Washington ought to have been notified within 90-days of filing the petition.

That leaves a little room to speculate whether the court would have treated the IRS summons as a breach of privacy.
