Bitcoin's debate about quantum computers produced a published draft with real political consequences on Apr. 14.

Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 361 (BIP 361), titled "Post Quantum Migration and Legacy Signature Sunset," landed in Bitcoin's official proposal repository with a three-phase plan to phase out ECDSA and Schnorr signature spends entirely once a quantum-resistant output type exists on the network.

The proposal builds directly on BIP 360, published in February, which introduced a new address format that strips Taproot's quantum-vulnerable key-path spend, called Pay-to-Merkle-Root (P2MR). The proposal also preserved compatibility with Lightning, BitVM, and multi-signature setups.

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire Reveals He Sees a Huge Opportunity for a Chinese Yuan-Backed Stablecoin! Here Are the Details


Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire has stated that he sees a “big opportunity” for a stablecoin based on the Chinese yuan. In an interview with Reuters, Allaire said that stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important tool in global currency competition and that this technology could support China’s goal of internationalizing the yuan.

According to Allaire, competition in the global financial system has now acquired not only an economic but also a technological dimension. In this context, the development of a yuan-backed stablecoin could make China’s currency more competitive. The Circle CEO stated that China has the potential to launch such a digital asset within the next three to five years.

These statements come amid increasing debate surrounding yuan-based stablecoins. Previously, Chinese tech giants Ant Group and JD.com were reported to have called on the central bank to allow yuan-backed stablecoins.

However, the People’s Bank of China and other regulatory bodies are taking a cautious approach in this area. A statement published in February 2026 explicitly emphasized that issuing yuan-pegged stablecoins abroad without the necessary permits is prohibited.

While cryptocurrency transactions remain banned in mainland China, Hong Kong is taking a more flexible approach. Regulators in the region recently granted stablecoin licenses to two different entities, ushering in a new era for the sector.

According to experts, stablecoins could become a significant part of international competition within the global financial system in the coming years.

After losing 63% of its value over several tough months and challenging investor confidence, XRP made a strong comeback in April.

XRP’s recovery is driven by new privacy features for institutions, major retail adoption in Asia, and renewed interest in exchange-traded funds.

Cryptorank data shows XRP is on track for its first positive monthly close since September 2025.

With investors showing more interest in riskier assets, XRP has risen over 2% in April to $1.35 at the time of writing.

The price increase reflects big changes in where money is flowing and how investors feel. SoSoValue reports that US-based XRP exchange-traded funds saw about $12 million in net inflows in April, a big turnaround from March, when worries about the economy led to over $31 million in outflows.

This demand is not limited to the US. CoinShares data shows that global XRP exchange-traded products have seen about $20 million in net inflows this month.

While institutions are buying, many retail traders on social media seem worn out.

Santiment data shows that negative feelings about XRP, often called fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD), have reached their third-highest point in two years.
