XRP’s recovery now depends on whether network usage can outlast speculative demand.
XRP saw a surge in activity on its network, with Active Addresses rising 654.71%. That growth added a new layer to the price recovery by showing stronger network participation.

The Total Active Addresses increased from 47,180 to 356,070, signifying a significant growth in network engagement. 

This rapid growth strengthened the activity supporting XRP’s recovery rather than leaving price gains isolated from network usage. Besides, the surge in participation also provided a larger potential user base for engaging with XRP in the recent price rally.

However, Active Addresses alone could not confirm whether participants were accumulating XRP or transferring existing holdings.

The token’s price action added some context as XRP’s price surged significantly with the expanding network engagement.

Breakout opens the road toward $2

Price action confirmed the breakout by breaking above the important $1.4658 resistance level during XRP’s sharp recovery. 

As of press time, XRP was trading around $1.5235, after briefly touching the $1.7057 resistance level on the daily chart.

Most importantly, the buyers had inverted $1.4658 from overhead resistance to the closest level supporting the breakout structure. The DMI reinforced that price move, with +DI reaching 47.64 while -DI had fallen to 5.06.

Meanwhile, ADX reached 44.81, indicating the directional move had developed considerable strength during the breakout. A successful defense of the $1.4658 support level would keep $1.7057 within reach during another upward attempt.

Failure there would expose the $1.3000 lower support and weaken the breakout despite the strong network and bullish trader positioning. 

However, the current conditions favor another $1.7057 challenge before hitting $2, although buyers would need sustained demand to overcome that resistance.

Crypto Fear and Greed Index Reaches Highest Level Since Before the 2025 Crash
Investor sentiment in the cryptocurrency markets has recovered significantly in the last two weeks. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which was at 27 on August 12th and in the “fear” zone, rose to 74 on Tuesday, moving into the “greed” zone. The index then fell back to 65 on Wednesday.

The index reaching 74 marks its highest level since the period before the major market crash in October 2025. The indicator was last at similar levels on October 5, 2025. Just five days after that date, a sharp sell-off liquidated approximately $19 billion in leveraged positions.

The shift in market sentiment has also been reflected in the price performance of crypto assets. Bitcoin, which traded below $68,000 last week, quickly approached $80,000. Some major cryptocurrencies even saw increases of up to 70%.

Meme tokens have particularly stood out in the altcoin market. While Dogecoin gained approximately 24% in value over the past week, some smaller-scale meme coins with lower trading volumes saw even sharper increases. Thinking Cat rose 131%, Cash Cat 113%, while Dogecoin nearly doubled in value.

Sony-Backed S.BLOX Lists Cardano’s ADA and Midnight’s NIGHT in Japan.Sony-linked Japanese exchange S.BLOX formally enabled trading for Cardano’s $ADA on Monday, Aug. 24, and simultaneously listed $NIGHT, the native token of the Midnight sidechain, Crypto Economy reported.The listingsS.BLOX operates under Sony On-Chain Technologies Inc., a Sony Group subsidiary that completed its acquisition of the exchange platform in August 2023. Through an announcement on X, the exchange confirmed the immediate availability of $ADA transactions and the listing of $NIGHT. The technical integration lets local users access the new trading pairs inside an environment regulated by Japanese financial authorities.
The addition of $NIGHT marks the first time the token has entered a domestic exchange in Japan, with S.BLOX documentation confirming no other domestic operator had technical support for the asset beforehand. The Midnight protocol launched its mainnet technical operations in March, and the $NIGHT token was issued in December 2025.
Promotions to drive adoption
To encourage uptake, S.BLOX launched two promotional programs: registered users can qualify for rewards of up to 10,000 yen in $ADA and bonuses of up to 14,000 yen in $NIGHT upon meeting the exchange’s operational requirements. The campaigns are scheduled to run throughout August, according to the schedule published on the exchange’s official channels

Bitcoin's Cryptography Could Be Cracked One Day, BitGo CEO Says
Bitcoin’s quantum-computing risk is real, but the technology needed to threaten the cryptocurrency’s cryptographic security remains far from practical, according to BitGo co-CEO Mike Belshe.

During his appearance on Fox Business, Belshe said there are currently no quantum computers capable of posing an immediate threat to Bitcoin.

However, he did acknowledge that the industry is already working on technologies that are meant to address the long-term risk.

He noted that existing quantum systems remain extremely limited compared. "We only have, like, quantum computers that theoretically work, so single digits to 100, so we’re really far away," he said.

The BitGo executive argued that the threat should not be viewed as an immediate danger. "I think it’s good news for the digital asset industry, which is that at this point there’s new investments coming in, digital billions of dollars, money, the claims money, etc.," Belshe said.

BitGo has already launched a quantum-resistant wallet, but Belshe acknowledged that the technology is still evolving. "So, we have BitGo launch a quantum-resistant wallet. It’s not perfect, and there’s more changes that need to happen," he said.

Is this the end of the crypto winter?

Belshe said the industry should expect significant volatility. "The industry goes through ups and downs, and we’re changing the way the financial system works," he said.

"Stuff takes time," Belshe added. "Traditional markets and market infrastructure run from scratch, from zero, and so as a result of that, it goes up and down."

Those who cannot handle significant price drops are not ready for massive gains, according to Belshe.

"If you’re not ready for a 20% drop, you certainly aren’t ready for 600% gains," Belshe said.

Stacks, a Bitcoin [$BTC] Layer 2 solution, is benefiting from the surge in prices of $BTC. Bitcoin broke the $80,000 wall, prompting market-wide strength.

The continuous expansion of Bitcoin’s utility, especially the staking feature, has driven Stacks’ prices. In fact, the social mentions of $STX increased by 31.7% this week, as per LunarCrush. Here is why:

Decoding Stacks’ network usage

Recently, Stacks announced that self-custodial Bitcoin staking would go live with the Genesis Bond on the 10th of September. The upgrade allows holders to earn $BTC-denominated yield while their coins stay in Bitcoin’s base layer under their own keys.

Thus, Bitcoin holders will finally get productive capital without giving up custody or leaving $BTC’s security models.

As a result, network usage has spiked as participants embrace this $BTC utility. The Total Value Locked (TVL) slowly increased from $83 million to $102 million in six days.

However, DEX volume more than doubled in the same period. It grew from $960K to $2.18 million, as per DefiLlama.

To reinforce this spike in network usage, Chain Fees told a story. They increased by almost 10x, from $339 to $3,139, indicating network congestion.
