This capitalization model calculates an asset’s total value by assuming that the ‘real’ value of any token in circulation is equal to the last spot price it was moved at. This approach is different from that of the usual market cap, which simply sums up the supply at the current spot price.The last transaction price of any coin can be thought to represent its current cost basis, so the Realized Cap is essentially a sum of the acquisition value for the entire supply. As such, the indicator can be considered as a measure of the total amount of capital that investors have put into the cryptocurrency. Ethereum has reached a historic milestone after on-chain data revealed that half of ETH’s supply is locked in staking. This marks the first time in history that this has happened, driving bullish outlooks from analysts, with one stating that the largest altcoin may surge to as high as $18,000 if it continues to trade within a bullish pattern established since 2022.According to data from Everstake, 50.18% of the entire ETH supply is now locked in staking. This amounts to more than 80.95 million tokens, which are no longer available on exchanges or trader wallets and cannot be dumped into the market due to prevailing bearish conditions. Per the analysis, this high amount of staked tokens means that the liquid supply is now nonexistent. With fewer coins in circulation, selling pressure has dropped significantly, making the market more sensitive to any surge in demand. “It shows strong long-term conviction. Instead of trading short-term volatility, users are choosing to secure the network. We do believe that for Ethereum, this is a structural shift. Less available supply + steady or growing demand = stronger price dynamics over time,” the analysis said.However, it is important to note that the 80.95 million tokens do not represent the active stake. It represents the ETH tokens held in the proof-of-stake (PoS) address. Ethereum has 30.41% of its supply held in active stake.Analyst Gert van Lagen has stated that Ethereum may be headed for a bullish breakout towards $18,000. He based his analysis on an expanding diagonal pattern, stating that ETH has been following it since 2017. According to the analysis, while downside risk persists in the short term, there is strong potential for a recovery over the next 12 months.

According to Farrell's assessment, the average cost of Ethereum per investor is $2,241. The current price of $1,934 indicates that investors are, on Saved average, at a loss of 22%.

This Week Is Critical for the Fate of Bitcoin and Altcoins – Expert Firm Shares Its Predictions

Cryptocurrency market maker Wintermute reported in its latest market analysis that Bitcoin has been stuck in a narrow range for about two months and that US-originated selling pressure is determining the market’s direction.

According to Wintermute’s analysis, Bitcoin continues to trade in the $85,000-$94,000 range after its failed attempt to rise towards $97,000 at the beginning of January. The record outflows seen in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs last week, along with the decline of Coinbase’s premium to discounted levels, reveal that US investors are net sellers. Europe is a marginal buyer, while Asia is largely neutral, with the US being the main factor determining the direction.

The analysis notes that the cryptocurrency market has failed to find a clear direction in the last two months, while gold and silver reaching record highs during the same period suggests that the “dollar depreciation” theme is more strongly at play in these assets. Wintermute argues that Bitcoin’s “digital gold” narrative has not yet fully materialized during stressful times.

On the volatility front, there’s a noticeable stagnation. The fact that implied volatility is tight across all maturities indicates low market participation and that investors are unwilling to pay a premium for strong price movements. While a partial divergence between Bitcoin and the Nasdaq has been observed since January, it’s noted that this correlation could quickly reverse in a true “risk-averse” environment. In particular, there are warnings that if the AI trend disappoints during earnings season, stocks could drag crypto down as well.

Wintermute argues that this narrow price range, which has persisted for 60 days, is unusual for Bitcoin. They state that the $85,000 level has acted as strong support so far, finding buyers on every pullback, and
