Dormant Bitcoin activity dropped in the second quarter. It fell to its lowest level since the third quarter of 2022. The figures were shared by Alex Thorn, head of firmwide research at Galaxy Digital, in a post on X.

4 Things That May Move Crypto Markets This Week as Fed Rate Hike Odds IncreaseCrypto markets have ticked up this Monday morning as investors brace for a volatile week ahead, with all eyes on the US central bank. Meanwhile, Iran said it will halt its attacks as long as the United States does the same, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Sunday.

The US paused its bombing campaign on Friday following 13 nights of intensifying airstrikes. The development has caused a dip in oil prices and a jump in US stock futures and crypto markets.

Economic Events July 27 to 31

July’s Consumer Confidence data is due on Tuesday, which reflects how consumers are spending. This is followed by the week’s big event on Wednesday when the Fed announces its rate decision and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh holds a press conference, setting policy direction.

The meeting comes amid growing uncertainty about tech sector valuations, AI infrastructure spending, and economic growth trajectory amid a backdrop of inflationary pressures.

The market “feels very frothy,” Kristina Hooper, chief market strategist at Man Group, told Reuters. “Investors are, to a certain extent, walking on eggshells, and they’re more likely to react negatively to any signs of imperfection.”

Odds of rates remaining the same have fallen to 63.7% on the CME Fed watch tool, which now predicts a 36.3% chance of an increase.

July’s PCE inflation data is due on Thursday, followed by the Michigan Consumer Sentiment data and Inflation Expectations data on Friday.

Hashdex plans to put some of the crypto held by its Nasdaq CME Crypto Index ETF (NCIQ) to work through staking. The sponsor takes the first slice of net income, while common shareholders begin sharing in the rewards after an annual threshold is cleared.

The framework is prospective. A July 23 Form 8-K named Coinbase Cloud as the initial provider and said staking was expected to begin promptly, subject to operational readiness.

Under the July 23 prospectus supplement, a staking provider first retains its portion of gross rewards. Hashdex then receives all remaining net staking income up to a dollar threshold equal to 0.25% of common-share net asset value through one Sponsor Share, a separate unlisted class held exclusively by Hashdex. Income above that threshold is split 40% to Hashdex and 60% to the trust for holders of publicly traded NCIQ common shares.

The threshold is measured over each fiscal year and prorated for a partial year. If net staking income stays at or below it, none is allocated to the trust for common shareholders' benefit.

For illustration, if net staking income reached 1% of common-share NAV after provider fees over a full year, the trust would receive 0.45% for common shareholders. Hashdex would collect the remaining 0.55%, comprising the first 0.25% and 40% of the next 0.75 percentage point. The figures are illustrative rather than a forecast or realized return.

Morgan Stanley filed amended registration statements for proposed Ethereum and Solana ETF trusts on June 18, setting a 0.14% annual delegated sponsor fee on both products.

Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas described the proposed fee as the lowest among ETH and SOL products worldwide.

The ETH trust, expected to trade on NYSE Arca under the ticker MSSE, intends to track ether and staking rewards from a portion of its holdings. The SOL trust (MSOL) intends to stake up to 100% of its Solana.

BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHA) carries a 0.25% sponsor fee, Grayscale's mini Ether (ETH) product sits at 0.15%, Bitwise's Solana staking ETF (BSOL) launched at 0.20%, and Franklin Templeton's Solana ETF (SOEZ) lists a 0.19% net expense ratio.

The filings are preliminary, and the SEC must declare both registration statements effective before shares trade; neither filing has reached that threshold.
