The Ethereum Foundation is making headlines once again for selling ETH, but this time the spotlight is also on the buyer. The foundation has dumped approximately 5,000 ETH amid broader market volatility and fluctuating prices. The foundation has provided reasons for its large-scale ETH sale, citing ongoing support of operations and activities.

Ethereum Foundation Sells ETH To Crypto Company
The Ethereum Foundation has completed a new ETH sale to support its ongoing development efforts. In an X post on March 14, the organization announced that it was offloading 5,000 ETH, worth approximately $10 million, at an average price of $2,042.96 through an over-the-counter (OTC) transaction. The buyer in this deal is Bitmine, a publicly traded Bitcoin mining company that operates under the ticker BMNR.

According to the Ethereum Foundation, the ETH transaction was confirmed on-chain through the organization’s Safe multisig wallet at address: 0x9fC3dc011b461664c835F2527fffb1169b3C213e. The sale represents part of the foundation’s broader treasury management strategy, which is guided by detailed policies published in 2025.

The Ethereum Foundation has also stated that the funds raised from the sale will be used for its core operations and activities. These include protocol research and development, ecosystem management, and community grant funding. Bitmine’s involvement as an OTC counterparty highlights a growing network of institutional buyers interested in participating in the Ethereum ecosystem. The company has continued to buy ETH even during volatile market conditions.

Notably, the move also follows a series of previous ETH sales by the organization, demonstrating a structured approach toward funding its operational and developmental priorities. In July 2025, the foundation sold 10,000 ETH to SharpLink Gaming through a similar OTC arrangement. Before that, the Ethereum Foundation had carried out

The move could also carry symbolic significance for market participants. When a central ecosystem entity begins participating directly in staking, it may signal increased confidence in Ethereum’s long-term network economics.

According to Some Economists, the Fed May Raise Interest Rates This Year: What Are the Expectations?

The volatility created in global energy markets by the war with Iran in the Middle East could complicate the Fed’s interest rate cut plans. Rising oil and natural gas prices, creating new pressure on inflation, have significantly weakened expectations for an interest rate cut.

Economists expect the Fed to keep its policy interest rate unchanged at its March 18 meeting. However, many analysts had previously predicted a first rate cut in June. The war with Iran, however, has rapidly increased energy prices, leading to a reassessment of these predictions. According to Wall Street analysts, the increase in energy costs could lead to price increases in many areas, including transportation, food, and utilities.

This situation presents a difficult balance for the Fed. On the one hand, the central bank is trying to bring inflation down to its target level of 2% annually, while on the other hand, it has to support a labor market that is showing signs of slowing. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index, one of the inflation indicators most closely watched by the Fed, which was released on March 13, showed that prices continued to rise in January. It is noteworthy that this increase occurred before the full impact of the Iran war was felt in energy markets.

According to CME FedWatch data, which is based on futures markets, there is a 99% probability that the Fed will keep interest rates unchanged at 3.5%–3.75% at its March 18 meeting. The same tool calculates a 95% probability that the Fed will not change rates at its April 30 meeting, and a 77% probability at its June meeting. A month ago, these probabilities were 70% and 31%, respectively.

Due to rising energy prices, some economists believe the Fed may not cut interest rates at all this year. EY-Parthenon Chief Economist Gregory Daco stated that they have revised their baseline

The recent move higher suggests that buyers are regaining control as market sentiment begins to improve, with traders closely watching whether BTC can sustain momentum above this critical resistance zone.

Beyond the price chart, derivatives market data is beginning to reflect a notable structural shift. According to top analyst Axel Adler, Bitcoin’s Integrated Market Index, a model designed to measure aggregate pressure from the derivatives market, has recently flipped back into a bullish regime.

The indicator operates on a 0–100 scale and combines normalized metrics of price behavior and futures market flows. Readings above 55 typically indicate a bullish regime, while values below 45 suggest bearish conditions.

From February 15 onward, the model remained firmly in a bear regime. During that period, both price dynamics and futures market flows deteriorated simultaneously as sustained negative net taker volume and compression in open interest pushed the Flow Index below the bearish threshold. As Bitcoin’s price dropped toward $63,000, the Integrated Index reached its lowest levels.

However, the structure shifted on March 10, when taker flow reversed, and open interest began expanding again. Since that moment, the model has remained firmly bullish, with the index currently standing at 96, its highest level in weeks.
