Polymarket opens betting on Satoshi’s identity in new documentary, Adam Back leads

A new Polymarket pool is letting users bet on the person the “Finding Satoshi” documentary will identify as Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. Adam Back currently leads at 56% odds.


Directed by Matthew Miele and Tucker Tooley, “Finding Satoshi” tracks a four-year investigation by author William Cohan and private investigator Tyler Maroney into the identity of Bitcoin’s creator.

Cohan, known for books on Wall Street’s power structures and financial crises, teams up with Maroney, a co-founder of Quest Research & Investigations who focuses on high-profile and crypto-related cases. The documentary follows their work conducting interviews with industry figures including Michael Saylor, alongside forensic analysis and reviews of longstanding theories.

The film examines Bitcoin’s origins and its impact while seeking a definitive answer to the question of Satoshi’s identity. “Finding Satoshi” is scheduled to premiere online on April 22.

“Finding Satoshi” tackles a question the internet has spent nearly two decades failing to answer: who created Bitcoin?

An October 2024 HBO documentary, “Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery,” put forward Peter Todd as a potential Satoshi. The case leans on his early Bitcoin contributions and technical credentials.

Todd rejected the conclusion, and the film ultimately failed to convince the public that he was a credible match.

Len Sassaman and Hal Finney are among the most widely cited candidates for Satoshi in the crypto community. Both appear in the newly launched poll on potential identities.

Polymarket bettors are leaning toward Back, who has been identified as a likely candidate for Satoshi Nakamoto in recent reporting.

A UK lawmaker asked the FCA to investigate Nigel Farage after he appeared in a promotional video tied to a $2.7 million bitcoin purchase by treasury firm Stack BTC, in which he is also an investor.

The lawmaker’s letter to the agency cites potential market abuse and conflict of interest concerns, and alleges Farage’s approach to crypto advocacy may reflect a “Trump playbook.”

 purchase on its behalf, weeks after investing £215,000 ($291,283) in the firm.

In a letter to FCA CEO Nikhil Rathi, Cooper said that the sequence of events raises questions about potential market abuse, a conflict of interest, and retail investor harm. 

Cooper also alleged that Farage’s crypto advocacy may be following what she called a “Trump playbook,” referencing a Bloomberg investigation that found Donald Trump and his family have generated roughly $1.4 billion from crypto projects during his second term.

The letter said Farage has “long campaigned” for policies that would expand cryptocurrency use, including intervening in regulation, creating a new “bitcoin reserve fund,” and “forcing” HMRC to accept crypto for tax payments.

The lawmaker also raised concerns about political donations. Reform UK received a £9 million ($12.2 million) donation from Christopher Harborne, a major investor in Tether, at the end of last year, Cooper noted. 

That contribution, she wrote, is the largest political donation of its kind in UK history. Cooper told the FCA the facts “beg the question whether Mr Farage is promoting cryptocurrencies through..

XRPL is currently processing close to 3 million transactions per day during peak periods, marking a significant increase compared to previous months. Payment volume has also accelerated rapidly, suggesting stronger usage of the network’s underlying infrastructure.
On-chain data indicates that payments now account for a substantial portion of total network activity, at times exceeding 50% of all transactions.
What Is Driving the Spike?
Analysts suggest that the surge is not purely driven by retail speculation. Instead, it likely reflects broader infrastructure-level usage, including:
Cross-border payments and remittance flows
Stablecoin activity (including RLUSD transfers)
Automated trading and bot-driven activity on the XRPL DEX
Tokenized asset transfers and liquidity routing
This suggests XRPL is increasingly being used as a transaction and settlement layer rather than purely a speculative trading network.
Not All Activity Equals Demand
A key nuance is that not all transactions represent organic demand. A portion of the increased volume may be driven by algorithmic trading, market-making strategies, and bot activity—particularly on the decentralized exchange (DEX).

High Roller stock more than doubles on prediction markets partnership with Crypto.com



High Roller Technologies Inc. (ROLR) stock more than doubled after the online casino operator said it planned to introduce an event-based prediction market in the U.S. in conjunction with Crypto.com.

The Las Vegas-based company said Tuesday it will initially offer its customers Crypto.com Derivatives North America (CDNA) event contracts in the U.S. across finance, sports and entertainment. CDNA is a CFTC-registered exchange and clearinghouse and affiliate of Crypto.com. It didn't say when the planned market would start operating.

The company's share rose as much as 130% and were recently 65% higher at $8.32. Crypto.com’s CRO token gained 3% after the announcement to 7 cents.

Prediction markets have quickly gone from being niche betting platforms to a growing sector of sophisticated trading platforms that aggregate real-world event probabilities. Leading participants include Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated U.S. exchange for event contracts, and Polymarket, one of the largest decentralized markets covering politics, sports and economics. The market is expected to mature into one with trading volume in excess of $1 trillion by 2030, according to High Roller.

Prediction markets are running at an annualized revenue rate above $3 billion, up from about $2 billion in December, and could reach $10 billion by 2030, according to a recent report by U.S. bank Citizens.
