Phantom’s plan to drop Sui exposes the hidden power wallet interfaces hold over user fundsPhantom will remove Sui from its wallet interface on Sept. 24, one month after announcing that it and Sui had decided to end the integration. After the transition, Phantom will no longer display Sui balances, support Sui sends or swaps, or connect to decentralized applications.

The assets will remain on the Sui blockchain, tied to the credentials that authorize the account. Phantom's transition guide says users can restore access through a compatible wallet even after the cutoff. Sept. 24 ends access through Phantom; it does not end ownership or later access to the funds.

That separation turns a product sunset into a test of power in a self-custodial market. A wallet provider cannot erase a user's coins, but it can withdraw the screen, transaction tools and app connections through which people use a chain.

What Phantom is removing and what remains

Sui support went live in Phantom on Jan. 29, 2025. At launch, the Sui Foundation said Phantom users could send, receive and manage Sui assets, swap $SUI and connect to applications including Suilend, Navi, Aftermath and Bluefin.

Those functions made Phantom a distribution surface for Sui as well as a place to display balances. The interface brought the network into an app used across several chains; the same interface can now remove Sui from view.

Phantom's Aug. 24 announcement said the wallet and Sui had jointly decided to end support while leaving open the possibility of other collaborations. The announcement and operational guide give no reason for the split.

The scale of the immediate impact is also unknown. Sui's launch post cited 15 million monthly active users for Phantom as a whole, up from seven million in a December 2024 integration announcement. Investigators converted months of cryptocurrency data analysis into actionable leads during the Operation Lighthouse sprint, announced Aug. 25 by blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis.

Chainalysis described its operation targeting child sexual abuse material (CSAM):

“Operation Lighthouse investigated 29,120 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers, and targeted more than 100 distinct CSAM platforms, forums, and distribution networks across the surface web and dark web.”

Public blockchains maintain transaction histories that investigators can follow between cryptocurrency addresses, although an address does not independently reveal its owner. The public nature of bitcoin transactions allows investigators to map fund movements before combining that activity with exchange records, payment data, and law enforcement evidence to identify account holders.

The National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance hosted the sprint in New York, bringing together investigators from several continents. At least nine law enforcement agencies, more than 13 private-sector partners, and specialized nonprofits participated, including Europol, the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency.

Thousands of Accounts Surface Across 125 Countries
Chainalysis reported:

“The first-of-its-kind sprint generated 14,300 investigative leads, surfaced 7,700+ suspect accounts, and identified CSAM-linked suspects in 125 countries.”

The figures represent accounts, identifiers, and investigative leads rather than arrests or convictions. Authorities must conduct follow-up investigations, obtain legal process, and establish each account holder’s role before pursuing criminal charges.

The transaction was notable because it marked the first time Sun had unlocked this amount of stETH since July 18, 2025. According to on-chain data, the purpose of the transaction is still unknown.
Lido operates as a liquid staking protocol that allows users to stake their Ethereum assets and receive stETH in return. Users can convert their stETH to Ethereum under certain conditions. Therefore, the redemption of large amounts of stETH is among the on-chain movements closely followed by market participants.

According to the data, Justin Sun reportedly holds approximately 243,000 stETH on-chain. The total value of these assets is estimated to be around $600 million. While the size of this portfolio has decreased slightly following the recent transaction, Sun’s significant position as a major asset in the Ethereum ecosystem remains.
Whether the redemption request for 5,000 $ETH constitutes a direct sale remains unclear. There could be various reasons behind large investors liquidating their stETH positions, including asset repositioning, liquidity needs, or different investment strategies.
Market participants will closely monitor transfers from an address believed to belong to Sun in the coming days. The movement is considered particularly significant in terms of potential selling pressure, especially if redeemed $ETH is sent to centralized exchanges.

A cluster of resistance levels stacking up in the $80,000 to $83,000 region

The One Question That Matters

According to Soloway, confirming a genuine trend reversal comes down to a single technical test. Has Bitcoin made a higher high compared to its prior swing high?

The relevant prior high sits at $82,830

As of this analysis, Bitcoin has not yet closed above that level

A confirmed break above $82,830 would mark the first higher high in the current pattern, an early signal of a potential shift from a downtrend to an uptrend

Soloway was clear that even a break above this level would only be the “beginning stages” of confirming a new bull market, not definitive proof on its own.

Where a Pullback Could Land

If Bitcoin does confirm a higher high, Soloway laid out two possible support zones for a subsequent pullback:

$73,000, a more aggressive buy-the-dip level based on prior price action

$67,000, which he described as the stronger, more conservative buyable level given the prior consolidation and breakout pattern at that price

Soloway said the method for judging trend direction doesn’t need to be complicated. The question, he said, is simply whether Bitcoin has shifted from

That is the first red candle since the breakout. Resistance sits at $1.53000, then the $1.68 spike high, then the $1.80 shelf from December.

Support runs through $1.45326 and $1.30, with $1.00 as the structural base.

The RSI panel is not loaded on this chart, so momentum reads from price action alone. A vertical run of roughly 68%, followed by a 2.92% pullback, indicates healthy digestion rather than rejection.

The tell is where XRP price stops. Holding above $1.40 keeps the breakout structure intact and leaves the path toward $2.50 open.
