Bessent urged durable legislation that would give entrepreneurs and developers the confidence to “reshore” digital‐asset activity to American markets, arguing that decisive legal standards have historically made the US the world’s financial center.

With market conditions turning suitable, whales have taken the opportunity to re-enter the market.

Hyperliquid whale adds $2.3 million worth of HYPE Whales have continued to accumulate HYPE, especially as it shows strong upside momentum. According to Lookonchain, a newly created wallet deposited $5 million into HyperLiquid and began buying HYPE after it crossed the $40 mark.

So far, the whale has purchased 59.2k HYPE worth $2.3 million. Still, the account holds $2.6 million in USDC, likely to be used for more purchases. With HYPE holding above the entry price, the whale is already up $10k.

Usually, when whales enter the market during an uptrend, it signals confidence and helps defend higher levels.

Coupled with that, whales have seen their profit margin surge amid the recent gains. Onchain Lens reported that a whale who held a 5x long position since the 6th of December 2025 is now erasing all losses.

A similar-sized whale dumping of Bitcoin was seen in January. A $280 million wave of selling on the 10th of January was followed by a deep price correction below the $90k level a few days later.

The news of whale selling came alongside institutional holders opting to sell Bitcoin as well. AMBCrypto reported that the Bitcoin mining firm Cango (CANG) had sold 2,000 BTC in March as part of a "planned transition into energy and Al infrastructure.

The research examined the 2021 Bitcoin mining boom, which collapsed hard as BTC’s price fell while hashrate (computation power and number of miners) surged.

At the end of the 2021 cycle, the resale value of old ASICs (rigs used to mine BTC) fell and the BTC price crash exacerbated the situation.

In contrast, the newer mining hardware, which includes Nvidia’s GPU (general processing units) could easily be repurposed for other things. Especially as AI’s demands for data processing and power balloon.

As a result, most miners with the latest hardware during the current cycle have either partially or wholly pivoted to AI with ease.

Others like MARA have been forced to liquidate their BTC holdings to fund these pivots. However, players such as CoreWeave have opted for GPU-backed loans, which use the computing racks as collateral.

In fact, CoreWeave’s $8.5 billion is unprecedented because it is the largest loan facility ever to be made using the computing racks as collateral in the sector.

And the ‘ComputeFi’ upside doesn’t stop at expanded funding capacity either.

Will AI shift deepen among Bitcoin miners?

According to the research firm, ‘ComputeFi’ has solved the speculative nature of the ‘minerFi’ problem.

In the latest cycle, BTC and crypto have gone mainstream. In fact, most banks and asset managers now allow investors to borrow against their crypto holdings. However, the overall profitability has strained the sustainability of BTC mining.

Apart from the 2024 halving of block rewards, BTC’s pullback has dragged daily miner revenue from over $50M in 2025 to below $40M in 2026.
