Dogecoin (DOGE) drew fresh market attention after analyst Ali Martinez pointed to rising whale accumulation and stronger network activity during a tight trading range.

Summary Dogecoin whales bought more than $330 million in DOGE during a tight consolidation phase last week. Network activity spiked as nearly $800 million moved across Dogecoin in just 24 hours. Analysts are watching $0.1018 closely as Dogecoin tests resistance for a possible breakout confirmation. The setup has fueled new discussion around a possible breakout as large holders increased exposure while price remained below a key resistance level. The OG meme coin traded at $0.098 at the time of reporting. The token posted a 3% daily gain and a 5% weekly increase, while 24-hour trading volume reached $1.34 billion. Whale accumulation builds during consolidation Ali Martinez said large holders bought more than $330 million worth of DOGE over the past week. The analyst linked that buying activity to the current consolidation phase, where price has moved in a narrow range without a clear breakout. The analyst said this type of supply absorption can help build a stronger price floor. In his view, the buying trend suggests that bigger market participants are preparing for a possible move higher if resistance breaks. Meanwhile, Dogecoin also recorded a sharp increase in transaction activity on April 16. Nearly $800 million moved across the network in 24 hours, marking one of the largest volume spikes seen this year. U.K. pushes for an integrated payment system



Finally, the U.K. Treasury announced a single regulatory framework covering traditional payments, stablecoins, and tokenized deposits. 

According to Treasury and City Minister Lucy Rigby’s statement on Tuesday, the move will help ‘equip the U.K. payments sector for the future of rapid financial innovation.’

Rigby added that the ministry will soon invite the public and stakeholders for feedback on the plan. Interestingly, even agentic payments will be covered in the proposal. 

According to the minister, the move would position the U.K. as a global leader in financial technology, a spot both the U.S., Hong Kong, and other jurisdictions are fighting for.

Justin Sun, creator of the Tron blockchain, has sued World Liberty Financial, a Trump family–backed crypto and stablecoin project, alleging it unlawfully locked up his $WLFI tokens and defrauded him about their rights and value.

The lawsuit claims Sun invested $45 million in $WLFI in 2024 based partly on the Trump family’s association with the project, and that World Liberty later became hostile when he refused to keep investing or mint its USD1 stablecoin on their terms.

Sun further alleges World Liberty centralized control over tokens, threatened to burn his holdings and report him to U.S. authorities over purported KYC issues, while some details of the dispute remain under seal due to confidentiality provisions.

SEI’s latest rally has been closely tied to increased positioning in the perpetual futures market, where traders appear to be leaning into the upgrade narrative with long exposure.

At the time of writing, Open Interest (OI) rose sharply over the past day, with more than $10 million in leveraged positions added. A significant share of this capital tilts toward long positions, as reflected in a positive funding rate during the same period.

Other derivatives’ indicators reinforce this trend. Liquidation data showed that short traders bore the brunt of market pressure over the past 24 hours, with approximately $72,000 in positions wiped out, while long-side liquidations remained comparatively limited.
