Asian equity markets extended their gains on Wednesday, supported by strong momentum in technology stocks and rising optimism over a potential revival of U.S.-Iran diplomatic talks. The rally followed

Asian equity markets extended their gains on Wednesday, supported by strong momentum in technology stocks and rising optimism over a potential revival of U.S.-Iran diplomatic talks.
The rally followed a solid session on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 climbed 1.2%, ending just shy of record highs, while the Nasdaq surged nearly 2%, driven by continued strength in the tech sector.
In Asia, Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose around 1%, holding near historic levels, with the broader TOPIX index also posting modest gains. South Korea’s KOSPI emerged as the standout performer, jumping more than 3% and briefly crossing the 6,100 mark, fueled by strong demand for AI-related memory chips. SK Hynix hit a new all-time high, while Samsung Electronics also advanced significantly.
Elsewhere, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained over 1%, China’s Shanghai Composite edged up 0.4%, and Singapore’s Straits Times Index added 0.4%. Australia’s ASX 200 rose slightly, while India’s Nifty 50 futures remained largely flat.
Geopolitical developments also played a key role in boosting investor confidence. Reports suggesting a possible restart of U.S.-Iran negotiations helped ease tensions, even as underlying risks persist. The easing outlook contributed to a decline in oil prices, reducing inflation concerns and supporting global equities.
Adding to the positive sentiment, U.S. producer price data came in softer than expected, signaling easing pipeline inflation. Investors are now turning their attention to upcoming earnings from major U.S. banks, which are expected to provide further insight into the strength of the global economy.
