JPMorgan said ether and the broader altcoin market are unlikely to reverse a multi-year underperformance against bitcoin without a meaningful pickup in network activity, DeFi adoption and real-world use cases.
The bank’s analysts, led by managing director Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, argued that bitcoin continues to outperform ether across nearly every institutional metric. The note lands as bitcoin trades near $76,760 with ether near $2,260.

HTXSquare: Global Markets After Trump China Visit

Crypto asset manager Bitwise says Hyperliquid’s $HYPE token is significantly undervalued, arguing investors are still treating the platform like a crypto-native derivatives exchange instead of a broader financial trading “super-app.”

In a Tuesday blog post, Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan said the market is making “two errors” in valuing Hyperliquid, underestimating the size of the market it is targeting and failing to appreciate how the token captures value from platform activity.

$HYPE was more than 8% higher over 24 hours, trading around $48.70 at publication time.

“Today’s prices suggest you’re being offered the second at the cost of the first,” Hougan said, referring to Hyperliquid’s ambitions to serve trading across crypto, equities, commodities, FX and prediction markets.

Hyperliquid is a decentralized trading platform best known for crypto perpetual futures, but it has recently expanded into equities, commodities and prediction markets, helping drive a surge in trading activity and investor interest.

Hougan estimated Hyperliquid is generating between $800 million and $1 billion in annualized revenue while trading at roughly 10–14 times its buyback stream. That compares favorably with traditional financial exchanges such as Robinhood (HOOD) and CME Group (CME), which trade at materially higher valuation multiples despite slower growth.

According to Hougan, Hyperliquid represents a new generation of crypto projects designed to directly accrue value to token holders. He noted that 99% of trading fees on the platform are used to buy back $HYPE tokens, creating what ihe described as a more direct relationship between platform growth and token value.

Pro-crypto lawyer Bill Morgan has re-ignited discussions on the longstanding debate about $XRP decoupling from Bitcoin, invalidating the idea with his new research.

The crypto veteran has just highlighted a short-term correlation between Bitcoin and $XRP price movements, suggesting that the two cryptocurrencies have been moving in similar steps in recent market activity.

In his statement, Morgan claimed that the correlations between Bitcoin and $XRP price movements are growing stronger in recent weeks, backed by the results of a quick data check from an AI tool he used on the matter.

According to Morgan, the data checker showcased a very strong correlation between the two major cryptocurrencies over both weekly and monthly periods.

Notably, the tool estimated a 96% correlation between Bitcoin and $XRP over the last week. The data was derived based on the last seven-day crypto trading period leading up to May 19, 2026.

Moreover, it also showed data over a monthly period, revealing that the correlation has remained strong at about 81% over the last 39 days.

Apparently, the data suggests that the two assets, Bitcoin and $XRP, have continued to share a close alliance in their recent price trajectory amid short-term volatility.

Morgan shared the result of his research, challenging the recurring market narrative that claimed that $XRP was moving to decouple from Bitcoin.

There have been speculations that $XRP price patterns are majorly influenced by internal token dynamics like the supply pressure from the regular Ripple escrow unlock event.

Following his assertions, Morgan believes that the broader crypto market movements, especially that of Bitcoin being the dominating asset, can significantly influence $XRP's price action. He believes this has been the case in recent times.

US Treasury sanctions Gaza flotilla leaders linked to Hamas and PFLP front groupsThe US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned four individuals on Tuesday for their ties to organizations the agency characterizes as front groups for Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The designations target key figures in the Gaza flotilla movement and mark another expansion of Washington’s financial pressure campaign against networks accused of funneling support to designated terrorist organizations.

The sanctioned individuals include Saif Hashim Kamel Abukishek, Hisham Abdallah Sulayman Abu Mahfuz, Mohammed Khatib, and Jaldia Abubakra Aueda. Their names have been added to OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list, which means any property or interests they hold under US jurisdiction are now blocked, and American persons are prohibited from transacting with them.

The organizations behind the designations
Abukishek and Abu Mahfuz were designated for their association with the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad (PCPA), which OFAC sanctioned back in January for allegedly functioning as a Hamas-directed front organization. The PCPA has supported Gaza-bound flotilla efforts, and Abukishek in particular has gained prominence as a leader within the Gaza Solidarity Flotilla (GSF) movement.

Khatib and Aueda, meanwhile, are linked to Samidoun, an organization OFAC has designated as a front for the PFLP. Samidoun operates as a fundraising platform in jurisdictions where the PFLP itself faces legal restrictions, effectively serving as a workaround for financial support that would otherwise be blocked.
