Strategy’s Bitcoin treasury—valued at roughly $60 billion and comparable in structure to MicroStrategy’s model—is designed to withstand extreme market volatility. As of early 2026, the company holds approximately 673,783 BTC, providing substantial coverage for operating costs and dividend obligations.
With annual dividend requirements of about $823 million, downside stress tests indicate strong sustainability. At a Bitcoin price of $90,000, Strategy would need to sell only ~9,100 BTC per year (less than 1.4% of holdings). Even at $45,000, annual sales rise to just ~18,300 BTC. In a severe 90% crash to $9,000, the treasury could still fund dividends for over seven years without external financing.
Additional USD reserves cover roughly 2.7 years of operations, limiting the need for Bitcoin sales. Capital raised through STRC preferred shares further supports a self-financing model, enhancing the long-term durability of Strategy’s Bitcoin-centric balance sheet.

A significant catalyst was the US Supreme Court's decision to delay a ruling on the legality of the proposed tariffs.  This announcement triggered a $2,100 surge in Bitcoin's price in just 45 minutes, reflecting the market's sensitivity to geopolitical and trade headlines.
However, this bullish momentum is facing strong resistance from labor market data. Although December job growth was below forecasts (50,000), the unemployment rate fell to 4.4%. The labor market's resilience dampened hopes for aggressive monetary easing. As a result, the likelihood of a Federal Reserve rate cut at the next FOMC meeting fell to just 4.4%, prompting investors to brace for a potential pause in the easing cycle.
Tether's Strategic Positioning
Amid macroeconomic "FUD" (fear, uncertainty, and doubt), Tether's $1 billion infusion appears deeply strategic. As the market awaits a final tariff decision on January 14, demand for stable liquidity has surged.  This is evidenced by the 72% year-over-year growth in stablecoin transaction volume, which will reach a staggering $33 trillion in 2025.
