Bitcoin price jumped past $75,000 on Wednesday as traders recalibrated what the asset represents in the wake of the Iran conflict and an unusually stretched derivatives market. Price action, positioning data, and a real-world test of bitcoin as a settlement rail now point to a market that values the token as more than a volatile wager on tech risk.

Bitcoin price traded around $74,000 to $75,000 on April 15, extending a rebound that began after a February low near $60,000. The move leaves the asset up roughly 23% from that trough and about 3% on the week, even as broader macro and geopolitical headlines remain tense.

Spot markets now face stiff resistance in the $75,000 to $76,000 band, a zone several analysts flag as the ceiling of a two‑month consolidation range.

Short term, traders frame the outlook around a simple line in the sand. If bitcoin price can hold above support near $71,000 and secure a clean break above $76,000, momentum models start to point toward a run into the high‑$70,000s or even $80,000 over the coming weeks, according to Bitcoin Magazine Pro data.

Failure at that band keeps the range intact and invites another pullback toward $70,000 and the low‑$60,000s where the last leg of the rally started.

Derivatives flash bottoming pattern for bitcoin price

Beneath the spot chart, futures markets tell a story of persistent skepticism. The 30‑day average funding rate on perpetual swaps has remained negative for 46 straight days, matching the stretch of negative funding seen near the late‑2022 bear market bottom, according to research firm K33.

That means traders who hold long positions in perpetual futures have collected fees from shorts, even as price has drifted higher.

Bitcoin miner HIVE lines up $75 million note offering to fund AI infrastructure expansion

HIVE Digital Technologies announced a private offering of $75 million in 0% exchangeable senior notes due 2031 to fund GPU procurement, data center expansion, and general corporate purposes.

The company also received conditional approval from the Toronto Stock Exchange, with shares expected to transition from the TSX Venture Exchange to the TSX around April 30.

HIVE Digital Technologies (HIVE) plans to offer $75 million of 0% exchangeable senior notes due 2031, as the publicly traded bitcoin miner moves to expand its artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center footprint.

The notes will be issued to qualified investors by HIVE Bermuda 2026 Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary. Net proceeds are expected to support general corporate purposes and capital investment, including the purchase of graphics processing units and data center expansion, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Per the statement, the issuer also expects to grant initial purchasers a 13-day option to acquire up to an additional $15 million of the notes. The securities will not bear regular interest and will mature in 2031. Under certain conditions, the notes can be exchanged into cash, HIVE common shares, or a combination of both at the issuer’s election once final pricing terms and the initial exchange rate are determined. 

In connection with the transaction, HIVE intends to fund capped call transactions using cash on hand. The issuer may use a portion of the net proceeds to reimburse HIVE for the cost of those transactions, the company said, noting that the capped call transactions are designed to reduce potential economic dilution of common shares upon exchange of any notes or offset cash payments the company could be required to make in excess of principal, ....

The governance page says the burn would happen as soon as the vote clears, and holders who do not accept the new terms would stay locked. Early supporters would keep their full allocation under the revised schedule, but their tokens would not start unlocking until year 2 after passage.

Every advisor, institution, partner, founder, and team member locked token — all 45,238,585,647 $WLFI — is assigned to a 2-year cliff with a 3-year linear vest upon opting in, and subject to a 10% burn upon doing so.

$WLFI frames the proposal as a way to replace open-ended uncertainty with a fixed timeline for release. The plan also draws a line between user groups. Early supporters would get a four-year distribution path with no burn attached. Founders, team members, advisers and partners would face a stricter setup, with the burn applied only to their allocation and the rest released over a longer period.

The proposal says that structure is meant to create a clearer picture of future supply and governance.

The roughly four-minute excerpt centers on Jiang’s claim that Bitcoin was built by the American deep state as a surveillance and black-operations funding tool.

Jiang, who carries the informal online title “Professor” despite holding no university post, frames his case using what he calls game theory. Bitcoin.com News has featured Jiang on several occasions, as some of his predictions, like Trump winning the election and the U.S. going to war with Iran, have come true.

His Bitcoin argument, explained in an interview setting with Neel, follows three questions: who had the technical capacity to build Bitcoin, who benefits from its transparent ledger, and why would anyone build such a system and give it away for free. His answers point to DARPA, the NSA, and the CIA each time.

“When you do game theory analysis, you look at all possibilities, you end up with the deep state,” Jiang says in the clip. “You end up with the CIA.”

This lets the attacker then take users down the path to a malicious interface that had a close match to the original site to redirect them to a similar site. The device had been set up to deceive users into agreeing to approve malicious transactions or revealing sensitive wallet information. Only days after the problem was exposed, the squad put out a public alert.

Users were told to avoid interacting with the platform’s front-end. However, the protocol was also paused as a precautionary measure. The team assured that both the core smart contracts and backend systems were not compromised. Still, the attack carried a significant risk since it attacked the interface that users use to interact with the protocol.

The incident was flagged early by Blockaid, a firm that monitors decentralized applications for suspicious activity. Its detection system identified unusual behavior linked to the cow.fi domain. Shortly after, the protocol confirmed the issue and urged users to stay away until further notice. This quick response helped limit wider damage, even though the event still affected market confidence.

This is a title Bitdeer claimed at the end of last year, when it reported "total hash rate under management" of 71 EH/s, including, at the time, a self-mining hashrate of 55.2 EH/s.
