Clemente, who leads the firm described as the world’s first and largest BoDoggos Treasury Company, shared the update on X. He revealed that XRP now ranks behind only Bitcoin and HYPE in his portfolio.

Cornerstone Research says the US Securities and Exchange Commission launched 33 crypto-related lawsuits last year, down from 47 in 2023.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission’s crypto-related enforcement actions dropped by 30% in the last year under former Chair Gary Gensler, a report has found.

The agency launched just 33 crypto-related actions in its last year under Gensler, compared to 47 actions the year prior in what was its peak enforcement year, Cornerstone Research said in a Jan. 23 report. 

The SEC charged a total of 90 defendants or respondents in crypto enforcement actions last year, which comprised 57 individuals and 33 firms.

There was also a marked drop in administrative proceedings, which fell by more than 50%. Monetary penalties imposed against crypto industry participants reached a record high of almost $5 billion in 2024, carried by the SEC’s $4.5 billion settlement with Terraform Labs.

Gensler, who was appointed by Joe Biden in 2021, stepped down as SEC chair on Jan. 20 with Donald Trump entering the White House.

Cornerstone said over half of the SEC’s enforcement actions in 2024 were in September and October, with only four actions initiated after the US elections in November.

Bitcoin slumps to $66,000 as oil price spike rattles Asian stock markets

Bitcoin has fallen to $66,000 amid persistent geopolitical risks and rising oil prices.

Japan’s Nikkei has plunged 7% today after Monday’s market open, while South Korea’s KOSPI has dropped 7.9%.
The price of bitcoin (BTC) fell following last week's brief rally, as a spike in oil prices weighed on Asian equity markets on Monday.

According to The Block's bitcoin price page, the cryptocurrency dropped 1.87% in the past 24 hours to trade at $66,010 at the time of writing. This is a 10% slide from the recent peak of $73,500 recorded on March 5. 

This pullback brought bitcoin back to levels seen before the short-lived surge, which aligns with research firm CryptoQuant's previous analysis that last week's price action was more of a "relief rally" than a start of a new bull cycle.

"BTC’s move to $66K is driven by a macro-driven pullback," said Dominick John, analyst at Zeus Research. "Elevated geopolitical risk, particularly the lack of de-escalation in the Middle East, pushed markets into a more risk-off posture, while rising oil prices are adding to inflation concerns and tightening global financial conditions."
