Sui, a Layer 1 blockchain project, has identified South Korea as a priority market in its Asian growth strategy. The project aims to expand collaborations with financial institutions and major technology companies once the regulatory framework in the country becomes clearer.

Sui officials emphasize that achieving clarity, particularly regarding stablecoin regulations, is a critical threshold. Accordingly, the project positions the development of a stablecoin pegged to the South Korean won and the launch of Bitcoin-based financial products as strategic priorities.

These steps are expected to both expand the local user base and accelerate the integration between traditional finance and blockchain technologies.

South Korea is considered one of the leading markets globally in terms of cryptocurrency adoption and trading volumes. Therefore, Sui’s move towards the region is seen as part of an effort to gain a stronger position in the highly competitive Asian market.

The project is also continuing its efforts to grow the developer ecosystem. In this context, it was stated that various initiatives are planned to promote the adoption of Move, Sui’s native programming language, by a wider developer community. Move, with its focus on security and efficiency, offers an alternative infrastructure for programmers who want to develop blockchain applications.

According to experts, Sui’s South Korea-focused expansion strategy could accelerate and pave the way for new partnerships depending on regulatory developments in the region.

A senior executive from Ripple, Marcus Infiner, detailed the company’s strategy as the crypto sector moves toward institutional adoption and real-world financial applications during Paris Blockchain Week.

Marcus Infiner said increased participation from financial institutions marks a shift long anticipated by the industry.

“The digital asset transformation of financial markets is going to be a transformation in collaboration between crypto-native companies as well as legacy financial institutions.”

He added that Ripple has focused on partnerships with banks and financial institutions since its early operations.

Blockchain Moves Toward Core Financial Infrastructure
Infiner described a broader change in how blockchain is viewed within finance.

“This is core plumbing for a new financial system, but it’s going to be integrated rather than a parallel track.”

He said the technology is becoming part of core financial infrastructure and will be integrated into existing systems. He also noted that institutions are increasingly open to using public blockchain networks, compared with earlier reliance on private systems.

The claim, made on the April 15 episode of the Jack Neel Podcast, quickly drew pushback from prominent Bitcoin commentators who said Jiang’s argument rests on a basic misunderstanding of how the network works.

Was Bitcoin A CIA Project?
Jiang, a Beijing-based commentator with 2.3 million YouTube subscribers, framed the theory around what he described as a game-theory process of elimination. He said the standard origin story “makes no sense,” asking why someone would spend years or even decades developing blockchain technology only to release it to the world for free and then disappear.

“So then you have to ask yourself three questions,” Jiang said. “First of all is who would have the technology and the expertise to create something like the blockchain. Second of all, you have to ask who would benefit from this blockchain creation. The third question you want to ask is why would they keep it secret?”

From there, Jiang argued that the likely candidates were US intelligence and defense agencies, citing the role government-linked institutions played in building foundational internet infrastructure. “Probably the same people who created the internet, probably the same people who created GPS, DARPA, NSA, CIA, probably these guys,” he said. In his telling, blockchain would serve two strategic purposes: surveillance and covert financing.

He pushed the argument further by suggesting that the network’s value depends on people believing it sits outside political control. “The answer is only if people believe that this was transparent, open and beyond authority, beyond political control, would it have value,” Jiang said. “So the moment people recognize that this is a CIA operation, people won’t put their money into blockchain.
