Bitcoin & Ethereum Now Trading on America’s Top Brokerage, Charles Schwab


America’s top brokerage firm, Charles Schwab, has officially rolled out trading for Bitcoin ($BTC) and Ethereum ($ETH) on the Schwab Crypto platform through the Charles Schwab Premier Bank.

The phased launch will begin with an internal employee pilot, followed by a client waitlist pilot, followed by deeper expansion throughout Q2, 2026, and beyond. New York and Louisiana are currently exempt from the service.

Charles Schwab brokerage unveils $BTC and $ETH trading

Today’s announcement is a follow-up to the one that happened earlier this month. Charles Schwab now plans to integrate more cryptocurrencies and AI tools to cater to industry demand, while diversifying its revenue sources.

At present, the Texas-headquartered firm boasts about $1.48 trillion in assets under management (AUM), and up to 46 million active brokerage accounts managed by 16,000 advisors.

Aside from its flagship crypto product, Charles Schwab released its Q1 2026 earnings report today. Its net revenue grew 16% year-over-year to a record $6.48 billion, slightly missing the $6.50 billion expectation. This caused a 7.73% drop in its stock (NYSE: SCHW) on the day, with the stock trading at $92.53 at the time of writing.

That said, Bitcoin tapped $75K today, due to heightened demand in spot ETF inflows and hopes of a US-Iran ceasefire. Meanwhile, Ethereum was trading at $2,357 (down 0.75%) due to heightened selling pressure after an Ethereum long whale took out about $59M (120,000 $ETH) in profit.

Schwab launches direct crypto trading in coming weeks to 39 million customers



Charles Schwab announced this week it will begin offering direct cryptocurrency trading to everyday investors in the coming weeks, allowing customers to buy and sell bitcoin and ethereum alongside their traditional investments.

The new service, called Schwab Crypto, will charge 75 basis points on the dollar value of each trade, positioning itself among the lowest-cost options in the industry. Customers will be able to view and manage their digital assets next to stocks and bonds across Schwab’s website, mobile app, and thinkorswim trading platform.

“We know our clients want to conduct more of their financial lives at Schwab,” said Jonathan Craig, Head of Retail Investing at Charles Schwab. “With Schwab Crypto, clients who want direct access to the asset class can trade it alongside their other investments, while benefiting from the service, education, and research they expect from us.”

The brokerage surveyed nearly 500 current and prospective cryptocurrency investors between July 31 and September 1, 2025. Respondents identified three key factors when choosing where to trade digital assets: low and transparent pricing, brand familiarity and reputation, and confidence that their holdings would remain secure.

Schwab will start with bitcoin and ethereum, which together represent approximately three-quarters of the cryptocurrency market value. The firm plans to add more digital currencies over time and will eventually allow customers to transfer crypto they already own into their Schwab accounts.

Charles Schwab Premier Bank will serve as custodian, responsible for safekeeping and record-keeping of customer assets. Paxos, a blockchain infrastructure provider regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, will handle sub-custody and trade execution behind the
