A federal judge in Honolulu has dismissed a Trump administration lawsuit that sought to prevent Hawaii from pursuing climate change litigation against major fossil fuel companies in state court. U.S. District Judge Helen Gillmor cited a longstanding legal principle against federal interference in state judicial proceedings as the basis for her ruling.This decision marks the second federal court rebuke in 2026 of the Justice Department's strategy to suppress state-level climate lawsuits. Earlier in January, a separate federal judge rejected a similar DOJ attempt to block Michigan from filing its own climate suit against leading oil companies.The Justice Department originally filed lawsuits against both Hawaii and Michigan in April 2025, arguing that allowing these states to sue major energy producers would threaten domestic energy output. Just one day after that federal action, Hawaii moved forward anyway, filing suit against fossil fuel giants including BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell. The state alleged these corporations knowingly sold products that contributed to global warming despite being aware of the environmental consequences.Judge Gillmor determined that the Justice Department failed to establish legal standing to bring the case. In her written opinion, she noted that the DOJ's attempt to forecast the outcome of a lawsuit that had not yet been fully litigated — and speculate on how it might harm the federal government — did not constitute a concrete, legally recognized injury. Without that threshold requirement met, the case could not move forward.Neither the Justice Department nor Hawaii's Attorney General office released public statements following the ruling. South Korea to test blockchain deposit tokens for government spending in Q4
South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance will begin testing blockchain-based deposit tokens for government spending in the fourth quarter as part of a broader push to modernize how public funds are managed.
The ministry said the pilot to spend Treasury funds as digital currency was approved under a 2026 regulatory sandbox program, local media reported.
The approval allows business promotion expenses, currently processed with government purchasing cards, to be paid using tokenized deposits.

The change alters a long-standing system governed by the Treasury Funds Management Act, which required card-based payments. In the sandbox environment, agencies will be able to operate outside those rules on a limited basis to test new methods.

THORChain Outlines Two Integration Paths for Apps Seeking Cross‑Chain 
THORChain launched its Native API, a proprietary interface that allows wallets, decentralized exchanges and aggregators to connect directly to the protocol’s infrastructure to execute cross-chain swaps without relying on external providers such as Xchain.js or SwapKit.

Until now, development teams had two paths: integrating directly with THORChain’s technical stack, which meant managing their own maintenance and infrastructure, or using third-party SDKs and APIs, simpler but with additional fees and provider dependency. The Native API introduces a third option that eliminates that commission layer without modifying the protocol’s operation.

Swaps continue to execute in the same pools and are validated by the same set of nodes. What changes is the access channel: with the Native API, the provider fee disappears, as its use is free of charge. This gives integrators greater margin or the ability to offer more competitive prices to their end users.

The API supports asset queries, quote requests, swap execution and transaction tracking, all from a single interface maintained by the protocol itself. It also contemplates advanced flows such as memoless swaps, which simplify the user experience by eliminating the need to manually include memos. It can be accessed via an API key, and documentation is available in THORChain’s official repository on GitLab.

Aave Price Surges 10% After Integration on Fireblocks

On Wednesday, the Aave price gained bullish sentiment and rallied, with a 8% spike following a major integration with the institutional platform Fireblocks and the passage of the “Aave Will Win” revenue proposal.

Fireblocks Integrates Aave into Earn Feature

On April 15, Fireblocks integrated Aave into its new Earn feature, which will allow institutions to earn returns on their idle stablecoins directly inside the Fireblocks platform without having to move funds somewhere else.

Institutions can now supply stablecoins into Aave lending markets straight from their secure Fireblocks wallet. Aave is one of the largest lending protocols in decentralized finance. It also handles a major share of stablecoin borrowing and lending. The interest rates on the decentralized exchange are automatically based on how much liquidity is available for supply and demand.

The new Earn feature also connects with Morpho for more enhanced lending strategies. It is now available in Early Access for more than 2,400 institutional clients that use Fireblocks. This gives banks and companies an easy and safe way to access on-chain lending while keeping Fireblocks strong security and control features.
