'Sports is the entry point, not the endgame': Bernstein projects prediction market sector to reach $1 trillion in annual volume by 2030
Analysts at Bernstein expect prediction market volumes to scale from around $51 billion in 2025 to $1 trillion by 2030, driven by regulatory clarity and mainstream distribution partnerships.

The analysts see “asymmetric upside” for Robinhood from prediction market growth, setting a $130 price target for the stock.
As prediction markets evolve into broader information markets across sports, economics, politics, and culture, analysts at research and brokerage firm Bernstein have projected the sector to reach $1 trillion in annual volume by 2030, citing regulatory clarity, mainstream distribution partnerships, and a structural liquidity edge over traditional gaming markets.

Prediction markets generated around $51 billion in volume during 2025, the analysts led by Gautam Chhugani highlighted in a Tuesday note to clients, tripling year over year as liquidity rotated from the 2024 U.S. election cycle toward sports, crypto, macro, and political contracts.

"Increasing regulatory clarity at the federal level (vs. state-regulated traditional frameworks) is expanding the addressable market, while blockchain-based tokenization and integration with crypto markets is enabling global liquidity, long-tail event creation and participation from institutions," the analysts said.

Despite state-level scrutiny in recent months, particularly surrounding sports event contracts, the CFTC has asserted that it holds "exclusive jurisdiction" over prediction markets and is seeking to write rules as the industry expands. 

Kalshi and Polymarket have already executed a combined $60 billion in volume so far this year, with the analysts expecting $240 billion in 2026 and an 80% compound annual growth rate through the end of 2030.

As Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, approaches the $75,000 level, analysts are pointing out that this threshold could be a critical turning point. According to market assessments, surpassing this level could end the current sideways price movement and pave the way for a stronger uptrend.

Experienced analyst Mati Greenspan emphasized the importance of this level, stating that a clear break above $75,000 could signify not just a short-term rise, but a structural transformation.

According to Greenspan, the key factor will not be whether the price surpasses this level, but whether it can sustain itself above it. If it remains at this level for a sustained period, it could accelerate the influx of new capital into the market.

The analyst said that stabilizing above $75,000 would be considered a strong bullish signal and could boost investor confidence. However, he also warned that a failure to maintain this level could create a “bull trap” risk. In such a scenario, the price could briefly rise before returning to a downward trend.

On the other hand, Greenspan pointed out that the overall market structure is still strong, stating that the approximately $65,000 level constitutes an important support point. It is thought that this level could limit sharp downward movements.
