BNB Chain Prepares Osaka/Mendel Upgrade to Improve Execution and Finality


$BNB Chain is heading into another major upgrade, and this time the focus is not on how much faster the network can go, but on how well it can hold up when real users start pushing it hard. The Osaka/Mendel hard fork is scheduled for April 28, 2026, at 02:30 UTC, and $BNB Chain’s own release notes say the mainnet upgrade is mandatory for BSC users, with v1.7.2 listed as the required release ahead of the fork. The upgrade bundles nine BEPs and includes changes such as a protocol-level transaction gas cap under BEP-652, along with blob-related and execution-level fixes in the mainnet release.

That timing matters because $BNB Chain has spent the past year aggressively chasing speed. The Lorentz hard fork cut block times from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds, setting the stage for faster confirmations and stronger validator synchronization. Maxwell then pushed BSC down further to 0.75-second block times, while the Fermi hard fork most recently took BSC to about 0.45 seconds and emphasized predictable performance under growing network usage. Together, those upgrades turned $BNB Chain into one of the fastest major EVM networks, but they also raised the importance of stability, gas consistency, and execution quality.

Osaka/Mendel looks like the next step in that story, but with a different emphasis. Instead of trying to squeeze block production even lower, the fork is aimed at tightening how the chain behaves under pressure. That means fewer surprises during congestion, more predictable gas behavior, and a cleaner experience for developers who have to model how transactions will actually perform in live conditions. In a network that is already operating at sub-second speed, the difference between a chain that is merely fast and one that is fast and consistent becomes much more visible.

Solana Price Prediction: Breakout Puts Bulls Back in Control



Solana has turned bullish after holding its reversal zone and breaking above the key $86.70 resistance. If that level holds, the breakout could support a move toward higher resistance in the sessions ahead.

Solana Rebounds After First Target Hit as Traders Watch Higher Resistance

Solana reached its first upside target, according to a chart shared by TraderSZ on X, as the token moved higher after breaking above a descending trendline on the one hour chart. The posted update says “t1 hit” and adds that stop losses are now at break even, showing the trade has moved into a more protected stage.

The chart shows SOLUSD on Coinbase recovering from a broader downtrend and pushing through falling resistance that had capped price since mid March. After that breakout, Solana climbed into a key resistance band near the upper $80 range. That area now acts as the first major test after the initial move higher.

Several horizontal levels remain in focus above the breakout. The chart marks resistance near $87.54, then around $91.21, with a higher zone close to $95.16 labeled as the 2025 low. Those levels appear to frame the next upside path if buyers keep control and hold the breakout.

At the same time, lower support remains visible near $83.87, then around $80.20 and $76.53. If Solana falls back below the broken trendline and loses nearby support, the breakout could weaken. For now, though, the chart suggests momentum improved after the first target was reached and risk was reduced by shifting stops to break even.

Where the Price Stands

The important level to watch is $0.171. Until Pi closes a daily candle above it, the recovery thesis stays on hold. Resistance stacks up quickly above that level:

20-day EMA at $0.175

50-day EMA at $0.181

100-day EMA near $0.19

The one constructive signal in the charts is the MACD, which has flattened to zero for the first time since February. That indicates selling pressure is fading. It does not confirm that buyers have arrived yet, but the shift in momentum is worth noting.

The Upgrade Deadline Nobody Should Miss

The most immediate event is the April 27 deadline for all node operators to upgrade to Protocol 22. Miss it, and nodes get disconnected from the network. No exceptions.

This deadline is part of a broader upgrade sequence that is moving faster than most Pi holders realise:

April 22: Protocol 22.1 rollout begins the upgrade cycle

April 27: Hard deadline for Protocol 22 compliance

May 18: Protocol 23 expected to introduce smart contracts

Beyond that: Early signals point to a push toward Protocol 26 before Pi2Day

Developers are already being told to prepare their applications for smart contract compatibility. That is a meaningful shift in what Pi could support as a platform.

The Fundamentals Stacking Up

Away from the price chart, three developments stand out this week:

18 million KYC-verified users. Pi continues to argue that its user base is different from that of every other crypto network. These are confirmed humans, not wallet addresses.

A whale accumulated 350 million PI. Large accumulation at current prices signals someone with long-term conviction is buying the range rather than exiting it.
