Ripple-backed $XRP Ledger validators are moving to vote on two new amendments, XLS-65 and XLS-66, leading to $XRP news headlines. If approved, these proposals would add a native lending model and asset vault model.
The suggested ‘XLS-66 Lending Protocol’ aims to facilitate “on-chain, fixed-term, uncollateralized loans using pooled funds from a Single Asset Vault.” The overview of the amendment notes that the model is based on off-chain underwriting and risk management to determine the creditworthiness of the borrowers with configurability of on-chain peer-to-peer loans. Currently, the proposal is on the list of “Open for Voting” for XRPL upgrades.

The U.S. government moved about $606,000 in bitcoin tied to the 2016 Bitfinex hack to Coinbase Prime, a transfer that may not necessarily signal imminent selling.

Bitcoin’s move above $75,000 reflects more than a technical breakout; it signals a shift in how markets are valuing the asset amid rising geopolitical tension. A recent surge in trading volume across several XRP-linked exchange-traded funds has been highlighted by BankXRP, showing that activity across multiple issuers has expanded rapidly.

XRP ETF Trading Activity Surges Past $26 Million
Fresh trading data reveals a sharp increase in XRP ETF participation. According to figures shared by BankXRP, combined daily trading volume across XRP ETFs climbed to $26.02 million, marking a notable spike in activity across the sector.

The largest share of this trading volume was captured by Bitwise Asset Management, whose XRP ETF recorded $11.14 million in daily turnover. The firm therefore controlled the majority of the day’s trading activity, reinforcing its position as a dominant issuer in the developing XRP ETF market.

Behind Bitwise, Franklin Templeton posted $8.39 million in trading volume, securing the second-largest share of market participation among the ETF issuers tracked. 21Shares followed with $3.76 million, completing the top three contributors to the day’s total.

Together, these figures illustrate how institutional access to XRP is becoming more structured through regulated investment vehicles. Strategy Inc., the company formerly known as MicroStrategy that has essentially become a publicly traded Bitcoin fund, saw its stock price climb near $170 on April 17. That’s a 15% daily jump that pushed shares decisively above the $160 level for the first time in weeks.

The move comes as Bitcoin itself recovers from a bruising dip to roughly $74K earlier this month. For a stock with a beta of 3.56 relative to Bitcoin, meaning it tends to amplify $BTC’s moves by more than three times, the rebound was predictably dramatic.
Here’s the thing about Strategy: it’s not really a software company anymore, despite what its legacy business might suggest. The company now sits on approximately 780,897 $BTC, valued at around $58.96 billion. That makes it the largest corporate Bitcoin holder on the planet by a wide margin.

The average cost per coin across that massive war chest is roughly $75,580. In English: at Bitcoin’s recent low of $74K, the entire position was briefly underwater. Not a comfortable place to be when you’re holding nearly $59 billion in a single asset.

Strategy didn’t just ride the dip out passively, either. The company scooped up an additional 4,871 $BTC in early April for approximately $330 million, paying around $67,718 per coin. That’s buying aggressively while the market was in freefall, a move that either looks genius or reckless depending on where Bitcoin goes next.

For context on just how fearful the market has been: the crypto Fear & Greed Index sat at 12, deep in “extreme fear” territory, for 47 consecutive days in early April. That’s nearly seven straight weeks of maximum pessimism. The last time the index lingered that low for that long was during the 2022 bear market.
