The orders will be placed by traders who are either attempting to short the range-high in expectation of a reversion to around $68,000, and those defending against a breakout with liquidation risk above.

U.S. equities surged to record highs on Thursday as the war in Iran appears to be winding down following a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

Iran’s announcement that it has fully reopened the Strait of Hormuz has eased the worst energy shock fears, but President Donald Trump’s decision to maintain a US naval blockade on Iranian ships and ports has kept oil and crypto markets on edge. Around 20% of the world’s oil normally moves through the strait, making it one of the most important chokepoints for global energy and a key macro driver for Bitcoin’s btc5.04%Bitcoin role as a geopolitical hedge.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on X that the waterway is now “fully open” to commercial vessels, signaling Tehran’s willingness to restore flows even as a fragile 10‑day truce between Israel and Iran‑backed Hezbollah in Lebanon holds. Trump initially echoed that tone, posting that Iran had declared the strait “fully open and ready for full passage” before reversing minutes later and insisting the blockade will continue “UNTIL SUCH TIME AS OUR TRANSACTION WITH IRAN IS 100% COMPLETE.”
Trump first ordered the blockade earlier this week after Iran partially restricted traffic through the strait, a move Washington framed as a breach of the Pakistan‑brokered ceasefire between the US, Israel and Iran.

Analyst Issues Bullish Warning for Bitcoin (BTC)! "Expect This Level Within One or Two Months!"

The leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin ($BTC), is trading around $74,600 after a strong week.

Analysts say the rally has stalled ahead of the expiration of the two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran next week.

However, one analyst predicts that Bitcoin could rise to $125,000 in the coming months.

Speaking to Coindesk, ZeroStack CEO Daniel Reis-Faria stated that perpetual interest rates on Bitcoin are extremely negative, which could trigger a significant price increase.

Noting that Bitcoin's perpetual term funding rates are quite negative, the analyst said, "this indicates that investors are heavily shorting, expecting a decline."

According to the analyst, this increases the likelihood of a sharp short squeeze that could push the Bitcoin price towards $125,000 in the coming months.

The rivalry between Bitcoin ($BTC) and gold has been ongoing for a long time. Some analysts advocate for Bitcoin, others for gold, while some argue that both should be included in portfolios.

At this point, Citi, one of the most important names on Wall Street, also states that both $BTC and gold should be included in portfolios.

Citi analyst Alex Saunders said that a portfolio allocation of gold and Bitcoin is better than a traditional portfolio mix.

According to CNBC, a study by Citi found that adding gold and Bitcoin together to portfolios has increased the efficiency of bond and stock portfolios over the past 10 years.

According to this research, combining gold and Bitcoin in a portfolio increased returns without increasing risk.

In this context, Citi analyst Alex Saunders stated that investors perform better by holding small amounts of both gold and Bitcoin, rather than preferring one over the other.

“A 5% investment in gold significantly increases portfolio efficiency. Dividing this investment between gold and Bitcoin further enhances performance.”

The Citi analyst concluded by adding that a mixed allocation of gold and Bitcoin has been helpful during bullish periods in bond markets and during downturns driven by fiscal concerns and rising inflation risks.

Charles Hoskinson Praises Zcash Then Explains Exactly Why It Is Struggling to Survive
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has shared a detailed and balanced take on Zcash, acknowledging its legacy while pointing out the challenges it faces today.

Speaking in a recent discussion highlighted by The Rollup, Hoskinson described Zcash as one of the “OGs of OGs” in crypto, crediting it for pioneering privacy-focused cryptography that is now being used in newer systems like Midnight. He also noted the strong principles behind the project, calling its team “cypherpunks at their core” and emphasizing mutual respect between builders in the space.

“The biggest issue right now, Zcash is not programmable, and so it’s a fixed-function ledger. And so they do have a path to it. They created a framework called ZEXE for that, and they’ve been doing amazing things, but we’re the first to market right now with programmable Zcash, you know?”

However, he pointed out a valid limitation—Zcash is still largely a fixed-function ledger, meaning it lacks programmability compared to modern blockchain platforms. While frameworks like ZEXE aim to address this, newer projects are already moving faster in that direction.

Liquidity Problem & The Dual-Token Fix

The bigger concern? Liquidity.

“The big thing that Zcash has to contend with is liquidity, because if you look at where regulation is going, protocol-level privacy, where the asset is shielded by default, that is having a harder and harder time getting listed on exchanges, you know?”

As regulations tighten globally, privacy coins with shielded-by-default features are finding it harder to get listed on exchanges. This has led to declining liquidity rather than growth, making long-term adoption more difficult.
