In stark contrast to his first term, President Donald Trump has cultivated an unusually close relationship with cryptocurrency. Before and after his return to the White House, he actively engaged in the digital asset industry, to the point that the presidential family was involved in multiple digital asset projects.

While such an arrangement might suggest that traders investing in these ventures could be forgiven for making such choices, by April 15, 2026, the actual market proved far less forgiving.

In fact, investing $1,000 in any of Trump's cryptocurrency projects—whether by allocating it or diversifying across different products—would result in significant losses. Here's how much would have been lost as of press time if either option had been chosen for such a purchase.

The current value of a $1,000 investment in Donald Trump's WLFI

First, World Liberty Financial (WLFI), the Trump family's venture capital firm, reportedly listed its token in early September 2025, at which time it was valued at approximately $0.31.  Data from CoinMarketCap by Finnball.

If you had bought cryptocurrency at $1,000 at the time, perhaps anticipating Donald Trump's election victory, you would have held approximately 3,225 WLFI. Considering the digital asset was trading at $0.078 at the time of writing, that investment would be worth only $251.55 by April 15th, a total loss of 74.85%.

A crypto scam posing as the official Ledger Live hardware wallet app passed Apple's App Store review process and drained at least $9.5 million from more than 50 victims across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and XRP between April 7 and April 13, with stolen funds routed through more than 150 KuCoin deposit addresses and into a centralized mixing service. Summary The three largest individual thefts were $3.23 million in USDT on April 9, $2.08 million in USDC on April 11, and $1.95 million in BTC, ETH, and stETH on April 8, with blockchain investigator ZachXBT tracing all stolen funds to deposit addresses linked to a mixing service called AudiA6, known for charging high fees to obscure illicit transactions.
