In the beginning there was only Satoshi Nakamoto and a powerful idea. Nakamoto started working on Bitcoin as far back as 2007[1], and as far as we know worked on it entirely himself, until a few weeks after his release of the Bitcoin white paper on October 31st 2008[2], when Nakamoto took on the first Contributor to the project, Hal Finney[3].
Finney, it turns out, was critical to Bitcoin’s early success. According to recently surfaced emails[4] Nakamoto’s node was unable to receive “incoming connections” for a couple of days after the minting of the genesis block, resulting in Finney being the only node other users could connect to. Nakamoto told Finney in a private email “Your node receiving incoming connections was the main thing keeping the network going the first day or two.”

Finney was also one of the first known reviewers and contributors to Bitcoin, Nakamoto shared the software with him and a few other cypherpunk legends before it was shown to the world. Finney even contributed code to the project before its first release, as revealed by Ray Dillinger who Nakamoto also shared pre-released versions of the code with.

In an interview conducted by Nathaniel Popper published on Dillinger’s blog, he said[5]; “It was when we started talking about floating-point types in accounting code that I learned Finney was involved in the effort. Finney was reviewing the transaction scripting language, and both the code he had, and the code I had, interacted with the accounting code.”

The timeline roughly matches the activity page of the oldest Sourceforge web archive we have of the Bitcoin project page, where Nakamoto added Finney to the project on December 18, 2008.

In the crypto industry, the speed of innovation is often a crucial measure of a protocol's longevity. However, Uniswap, which once single-handedly ushered in the DeFi Summer, seems to be slowing down.

Looking back at Uniswap's evolution, its iteration pace has always been renowned for its rapid pace: V1, featuring an AMM mechanism, was launched in 2018; V2 introduced ERC-20/ERC-20 pairs in 2020; V3 introduced centralized liquidity in 2021; and V4 introduced programmable Hooks in 2023. On average, every 1.5 years, Uniswap would introduce a highly innovative mechanism, reshaping the flow of hundreds of billions of dollars.

However, time has frozen in April 2026, nearly three years after the announcement of the V4 solution, and the market still hasn't seen any news about the next version of Uniswap.

 Currently, Uniswap's product development revolves around Uniswap V4, which transforms Uniswap from a fixed-function AMM into a highly programmable liquidity platform. The core innovation of this version is Hooks, modular, programmable plugins that allow developers to insert custom logic throughout the pool's lifecycle. This includes implementing virtually unlimited functionalities such as dynamic fees, limit orders, TWAMM (Time-Weighted Market Maker), MEV protection, loss hedging, custom oracles, and Continuous Liquidation Auctions (CCA).

In other words, previously many developers needed to fork Uniswap to implement certain functionalities, leading to the fragmentation of Uniswap liquidity across various forked DEXs. Now, developers only need to write a single Hook contract to significantly enhance the customization capabilities of Uniswap liquidity pools.

To support his predictions, the expert presented a chart comparing Bitcoin’s past market cycles from 2013 to 2026, showing when each bull run began, when the bear market ended, and how long each phase lasted.

According to Philarekt, Bitcoin’s bull phase usually begins the moment it confirms a final bottom and typically lasts about 1,450 days before reaching a peak and then reversing into a new bear market. In 2013, BTC peaked near $1,100 before falling more than 87% and forming a bottom about 365 days later. A similar trend appeared in the 2017 cycle, where Bitcoin topped around $19,000 after rallying for 1,450 days, then dropped more than 85% before bottoming in 2018, approximately 365 days later.


During the historical 2021 cycle, the same behavior was observed. Bitcoin had reached an all-time high above $69,000 before declining by over 79% into its 2022 bear market bottom. Based on this repeating structure, Philarekt believes Bitcoin has already reached its highest price target for the current cycle and is now progressing toward its final bottom, which the analyst expects to form within the same 365-day timeframe.
