The Target Is Pix: Why the US Is Imposing Unprecedented Tariffs Over Brazil’s Free Payment System

The decision, applied under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, was taken by the USTR after a year-long investigation that found certain circumstances in Brazil, including Pix payments, were “unreasonable” and burdened or restricted “the commerce of American farmers, workers, innovators, and exporters.”The U.S. imposed a 25% tariff on over $11 billion in Brazilian exports to counter unfair trade practices.

The USTR claimed Brazil’s fee-free Pix system unfairly disadvantages American credit card operators.

This unprecedented tariff marks the first penalty against a sovereign payment network to defend the dollar.

The Trump Administration has finally taken action against Brazil, announcing a series of tariffs that would affect certain goods exported from Brazil to the United States.

18 июля в 21:44:51 UTC Cardano активировала хардфорк Van Rossem в основной сети, переведя сеть на протокол версии 11 и разблокировав новые примитивы Plutus для криптографии, доступа к данным и смарт-контрактов для нескольких активов.

Это обновление внутри эпохи сохранило Cardano в эпоху Conway, изменив при этом правила протокола, используемые узлами и скриптами Plutus. Оно последовало за развертыванием в тестовых сетях Preview и Preprod и потребовало поддержки со стороны делегированных представителей, операторов пулов ставок и Конституционного комитета.

Инициирование хардфорка было ратифицировано 13 июля при поддержке 77,63% делегированных представителей, 52,7% операторов пулов ставок и шести членов Конституционного комитета, проголосовавших за его конституционность.  Отдельное обновление модели ценообразования Plutus вступило в силу 18 июня, в соответствии с которым новым операциям были присвоены цены исполнения до запуска версии протокола 11.
