Strategy Becomes $BTC Seller

BONK faces $20 million treasury drain after attacker spends $4 million to pass malicious proposalThe attacker bought enough of the memecoin's tokens to pass a governance proposal that sent the group's holdings to a wallet they controlled, then began selling.nchain governance was heralded a few years ago as the future of how communities run themselves. But a multimillion-dollar attack on the memecoin BONK shows the cost of putting a treasury at the mercy of a public vote anyone can buy their way into.

BONK DAO was drained of $20 million late Monday, the culmination of a week-long scheme in which an opportunistic attacker spent about $4.4 million buying up the project's bonk tokens to force through a vote. Every step was a legitimate transaction — such as the buying, the vote, the payout — and together they carried out a theft.

BONK is a Solana-based memecoin, and BONK DAO is the decentralized autonomous organization that governs it, a structure where token holders vote on proposals rather than a company making decisions. Anyone holding enough tokens can propose a change and, if a vote passes, have it executed automatically onchain.

The decentralized social trading and asset management network’s native token has shot higher by 17.5% in the past 24 hours. The daily trading volume has climbed by 201%, a sign of market conviction backing the swift gains.

Towards the end of June, AMBCrypto had reported that the DeXe price action warranted a cautiously bullish bias from swing traders and investors. The ATH in network activity reinforced the altcoin’s remarkable relative strength against the broader crypto market.

Trump-backed American Bitcoin hits 8,000 BTC as ABTC stock rebounds

American Bitcoin Corp. said its Bitcoin reserve has moved above 8,000 $BTC after its latest treasury update.

In a July 6 post on X, the company said its Bitcoin reserve has grown more than threefold since its Nasdaq debut, while its satoshis-per-share metric has also grown nearly threefold.

BitcoinTreasuries data showed American Bitcoin holding 8,000 $BTC, worth about $512 million, among publicly traded Bitcoin treasury companies. The same tracker ranked the company near the top tier of public corporate $BTC holders, ahead of GD Culture Group and Galaxy Digital in the U.S. list.

ABTC traded at $8.49 at the time of writing, up 14.1% on the day, according to Google Finance data. The stock opened at $7.98, touched an intraday high of $9.31, and fell as low as $7.40, with volume above 2.17 million shares.The move followed American Bitcoin’s 1-for-15 reverse stock split. The company said the split became effective at 5:00 p.m. on July 2, with Class A shares set to trade on a split-adjusted basis on Nasdaq from July 6 under the same ABTC ticker.

American Bitcoin said the split would reduce issued shares from about 1.09 billion to roughly 73 million. The company said the action was mainly meant to lift the per-share price and help maintain compliance with Nasdaq’s minimum bid price rule.

USELESS indicators stay bullish—but profit-taking risks are rising

The memecoin sector has been one of the best-performing sectors in crypto over the past week. Data from Glassnode showed that the sector has improved its market capitalization by 11.5%, outperforming Bitcoin [BTC] gains by a comfortable margin.Useless [$USELESS] was one of the strongest short-term bullish memes in the market, with a 26% rally in the past week and a 14.47% move in just the past 24 hours.

Yet, with a market cap of only $99.85 million at the time of writing, it was hardly the one moving the needle for the memecoin sector.

Other tokens like Memecore [M], with its flash volatility, and the 15% weekly price bounce Pepe [PEPE] have contributed more to memes’ strength. Yet, that does not take away from $USELESS as a potential trading opportunity.

Should you buy the $USELESS momentum?

On the 1-day chart, the technical indicators were all bullish to varying degrees. The A/D has been forming higher lows since April, but has not made new highs yet. The OBV was different and has kept up its uptrend despite the heavy losses in January and February.

This suggested that the relatively small-cap memecoin retained bullish market participant conviction and could move higher on the back of this demand.

The moving averages were well below the market price, and the MFI was at 73. Both momentum indicators also favored the bulls.

Yet, structurally, the price action retained a bearish long-term bias. The current move up to $0.101 remained within the bounds of the 78.6% retracement level at $0.109.

A breakout past the swing high at $0.131 is needed to flip the long-term structure bearishly.

The recent surge higher swept the pocket of liquidity at $0.095. The influx of short liquidations forced market buy orders that helped push prices past $0.1.
