Silver slips near $62 as traders book gains before Fed minutes this week.

Silver’s rally has paused, but the case for a deeper collapse is not as clean as Monday’s price action suggests.

The metal slipped back towards $62 an ounce after four straight days of gains, as traders booked profits before the Federal Reserve’s June meeting minutes.

Yet two of the bigger pressures that hurt silver last month are now easing: oil has fallen back towards multi-month lows, and markets have trimmed some expectations for another US rate increase.

That leaves XAG/USD under pressure in the short term, but not without support.

Pullback follows a sharp rebound

Spot silver fell about 1% to trade near $61.80 in Asian hours, ending a four-day advance that had carried the metal back above $62.

The move looked more like a pause after a fast recovery than a decisive breakdown.

Silver had been recovering alongside gold after last week’s softer US labour-market reading reduced concern that the Fed would need to move quickly on rates.

CME FedWatch pricing still suggests traders see a meaningful chance of a September hike, but the probability has eased from levels seen before the data.

That matters for silver because it does not offer yield. When rate expectations rise, cash and bonds become more attractive.

When those expectations soften, precious metals usually get room to stabilise.

The exchange stated that this step was taken to ensure the secure management of technical processes during the planned network upgrade.

The announcement stated that the Moonriver network upgrade is expected to occur at block height 16,960,935, which is approximately 4:00 PM on July 6, 2026. Binance emphasized that users do not need to perform any technical actions during this process, as all technical requirements related to the upgrade will be handled by the company.

“I think it’s going to be interesting to see how the discussion went around the table, how incrementally hawkish are they leaning,” said Matthew Miskin, co-chief investment strategist at Manulife John Hancock Investments.

“That’s what investors ‌and markets ⁠are going to be wondering: What is this new Fed chairman and updated (Fed policymaking body) looking for to decide the path of rates from here?”

Initial Jobless Claims data is due on Thursday, while full-time employment dropped by 514,000 in June to its lowest since December 2024. “The weakness in the US labor market is accelerating,” said Kobeissi.

According to South Korean news outlet Newsis, the K-STAR consortium and BNK Busan Bank have finished a proof of concept (PoC) to test whether a blockchain-powered digital version of South Korea’s local currency system could operate in a real banking environment.

The consortium included BNK Busan Bank, AhnLab Blockchain Company, OpenAsset, Kaia, and Lambda256. Within the project, BNK Busan Bank designed a policy-based local currency model based on the country’s existing regional currency framework while validating charging, payment, and settlement functions.

AhnLab Blockchain Company developed the project architecture, digital wallet, and transaction infrastructure, while OpenAsset managed stablecoin issuance and asset consistency. Kaia supplied the blockchain mainnet environment, and Lambda256 handled node operations and monitored transaction activity.
