Crypto bounces back from the brink as altcoin optimism returns despite pockets of weaknessBitcoin $BTC$62,788.28 is trading at $62,800 on Monday, a notable turnaround from July 1 when it dipped below $58,000 to its lowest level since September 2024 and raised concerns of a slide toward $50,000.

Ether ($ETH) staged a similar recovery, trading at $1,760 after bottoming out around $1,550 last week. The two largest cryptocurrencies spiked higher at Sunday's futures open, but have given back around 1% of those gains since midnight UTC.

The pullback represents a divergence from traditional markets, where Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 index futures are trading up 1% and 0.5%, respectively, following the long weekend.The altcoin market is split. Lighter ($LIT) continues to impress, now up more than 50% over the past week, while MORPHO$1.9001 and ADA$0.1824 are both nursing losses of around 4% in the past 24 hours.

Although both assets have seen pullbacks recently, the performance difference is striking. Bitcoin lost approximately 20 percent of its value in June, falling below the $60,000 level. During the same period, gold experienced an 11.7 percent drop, falling to around $4,000 per ounce.

Looking at the period since the beginning of the year, Bitcoin’s total loss has reached 28%, while gold’s decline has been more limited at 3.9%. This indicates that gold has shown more resilience compared to Bitcoin in recent months.

The cryptocurrency market is experiencing widespread weakness on Monday, with Bitcoin (BTC) sliding under the $63,000 mark amid ongoing risk aversion. Major altcoins, including Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP), are following suit, trending lower toward key support levels at $1,700 and $1.10, respectively.

Risk sentiment in the crypto market remains significantly subdued, weighed down by macroeconomic headwinds, geopolitical uncertainties, and a dearth of clear catalysts. Despite the crypto Fear & Greed Index ticking up to 24 on Monday, from an average of 12 last week, appetite for risk assets has not improved.
Persistent outflows from US-listed Bitcoin spot Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) underscore waning institutional interest, with $527 million withdrawn last week alone. This marks the eighth consecutive week of net redemptions, reinforcing the ongoing bearish narrative.

Despite the outflows, cumulative inflows remain positive at $51 billion, while net assets under management average $74 billion.

Can Solana finally reclaim the $84 barrier?
Solana approached the $84.00 resistance after recovering strongly from June’s decline near $60. Buyers had already reclaimed the $78.07 support level, preserving the recent recovery structure despite a modest pullback below resistance. 

At the time of writing, the daily RSI reached 61.20, while its Moving Average climbed to 52.66, showing buying strength had remained comfortably above the neutral threshold. 

Although recent candles reflected hesitation near $84, sellers had not established fresh bearish control. Instead, buyers continued defending higher lows, keeping the short-term structure constructive. 

A decisive close above $84 would likely expose the next resistance around $90. However, another rejection could encourage a healthy retest of $78.07 before buyers attempt another breakout.
Conclusively, Solana’s recovery had gained credibility as the SuperTrend buy signal aligned with bullish trader positioning, positive funding, and strengthening technical conditions. 

Although $84 remains the immediate obstacle, buyers had continued defending the broader uptrend. If Solana converts that resistance into support, the probability of a move toward $90 and eventually $100 would increase considerably.
