BTC Prophet: 20-Day 380 Million HTX Challenge

Cardano (ADA) launched the public testnet for its Leios scaling protocol today, June 23. It is the most significant technical milestone the network has hit in years, and it arrives with ADA sitting at a five-year price low.

The testnet carries the name Musashi Dojo, after 16th-century samurai Miyamoto Musashi. Its five phases map to the chapters of Musashi’s Book of Five Rings: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void, progressing from basic design validation through adversarial testing and into mainnet readiness.

The Price Problem

The launch lands in difficult conditions. ADA hit its lowest level in five years this month, down roughly 35% over the past 30 days. Meanwhile, its all-time high of $3.09 came on September 2, 2021, today’s price of $0.16 sits 95% below that peak.

The backdrop is bleak. At first, the analytics platform TapTools shut down earlier this year while Cardano cancelled its 2026 Singapore Summit. Hoskinson warned of a “wave of failures” among Cardano DeFi projects in the same period.

Cardano has lived through an unusual contradiction. The network kept shipping and moving toward its roadmap, but the price went nowhere. Leios removes the most persistent technical criticism of the chain: that the base layer cannot scale.

Whether the market reprices over the next five months of testing, or waits for mainnet, remains the question that defines Cardano’s second half of 2026.

How Leios Works

Leios runs as an overlay on Cardano’s existing Ouroboros Praos mechanism. When demand rises, an elected slot leader produces an additional “endorser block” that travels in parallel with the standard Praos block.

The euro slipped below the 1.1450 mark against the U.S. dollar on Monday, extending its recent decline as renewed uncertainty surrounding a potential peace deal between the United States and Iran unsettled currency markets. The move reflects a broader risk-off sentiment, with traders seeking the relative safety of the dollar amid diplomatic tensions.

Geopolitical Developments Fuel Dollar Demand

Reports emerged over the weekend indicating that negotiations between Washington and Tehran have hit a significant roadblock, with key disagreements over nuclear enrichment and sanctions relief remaining unresolved. This development reversed earlier optimism that a breakthrough was imminent, prompting a flight to safe-haven assets. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of major currencies, rose 0.3% in early trading, putting additional pressure on the euro.

The EUR/USD pair, which had been trading in a tight range near 1.1480 late last week, broke through the 1.1450 support level during the Asian session. Analysts noted that the break was technically significant, as 1.1450 had acted as a short-term floor since mid-February.

Market Implications and Trader Sentiment

The euro’s weakness is not solely a function of geopolitical risk. The European Central Bank’s cautious stance on interest rates, coupled with sluggish eurozone economic data, has left the single currency vulnerable. However, the US-Iran uncertainty has accelerated the move lower. Currency strategists at several major banks have revised their short-term EUR/USD forecasts lower, with some now targeting the 1.1300 level if diplomatic talks stall further.

DOJ strikes at Huione Group infrastructure in bid to choke billions in crypto fraud flowsOn June 23, the U.S. Department of Justice seized a cloud computing account used to power backend systems tied to Cambodia’s Huione Group, escalating a global push to disrupt crypto-enabled fraud laundering networks operating across messaging platforms and blockchain rails.
The move targeted infrastructure supporting Huione Guarantee, a Telegram-based marketplace alleged by U.S. authorities to have functioned as an escrow hub for laundering illicit cryptocurrency proceeds alongside trade in stolen financial data and other criminal services, according to DOJ filings.

The seizure comes amid rising cybercrime losses. U.S. victims reported $7.2 billion in cryptocurrency investment fraud in 2025, according to FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center data, within total cybercrime losses of $21 billion for the year.

The DOJ said blockchain intelligence firms Chainalysis and Elliptic, working with Google’s CyberCrime Investigation Team, assisted in the investigation.

Bitcoin drops toward $62,000 as the chip selloff deepens for a second day

Bitcoin fell toward $62,000 on Wednesday as a second day of heavy selling in technology stocks kept pressure on risk assets worldwide.

The token traded around $62,546, down 2.1% over 24 hours and 4.9% on the week, per CoinDesk data, sliding back toward the lower end of the range it has held all month.

The selling was steep across the board. Ether dropped 3.7% to $1,661 for a 7.2% weekly loss, XRP fell 2.2% to $1.10 and is down 9.3% on the week, solana lost 3.3% to $69 and dogecoin slid 9.8% over seven days. Hyperliquid's HYPE was the worst hit, down 8.8% on the day and 18.6% on the week to about $61. Tron held up best, up 3.7% on the week.

The pressure came from the same place as Tuesday. A renewed rout in semiconductor shares, the stocks that have led this year's market with triple-digit gains, sent the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down 7.9% on Tuesday, with all 30 members falling.

Micron, Marvell and On Semiconductor, each more than doubled in 2026, led the drop. The selloff pulled the S&P 500 down 1.4% and the Nasdaq 100 down 3.3%. An attempted rebound in Asian chip stocks failed to hold on Wednesday, with Taiwan Semiconductor down more than 3%.

Oil kept falling as the other half of the macro picture. Brent crude slipped about 1% toward $76 a barrel as tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz became more visible following the US-Iran interim peace deal. A gauge of the dollar climbed to a seven-month high as investors moved toward safer assets.

The crypto-specific signal sits in the fund flows, said Mike McCluskey, co-founder of tx, in an email to CoinDesk. He called bitcoin's stabilization in the low-to-mid $60,000s a measured response to the Federal Reserve's hawkish turn, given how hard such shifts usually hit digital assets.
