Bitcoin price has limited downside, likely near bottom, contrarian indicator suggestslf you're wondering just how much lower bitcoin BTC$62,272.98 is likely to drop, the answer, at least according to one historically accurate contrarian indicator, is not much.

That's the conclusion from an indicator that might seem to signal a bearish shift in sentiment but has tended to presage a more bullish outlook.

The indicator is based on two moving averages: Bitcoin's 50-week simple moving average (SMA) and the 100-week average. The 50-week average, representing roughly one year, is very close to dropping below the 100-week line. A shorter-term measure is often seen as a more accurate reflection of recent attitudes, so the cross would trigger what analysts call a "bear cross." At current trajectories, it could happen as soon as next week.

While that might sound scary to bulls, it is potentially positive news.

There have been three such bear crosses in bitcoin's history, and each marked a market bottom, signaling the end of a decline and the beginning of a three-year rally. The impending cross, therefore, suggests the bear market has nearly run its course and the bottom is near.

Critics would argue that three past instances aren't enough to draw a definite conclusion. While that is true, the contrarian record of the bear cross is consistent with the reputation of ultra-long-duration moving averages as "lagging

Besides accumulating ETH, Bitmine has also staked 4,718,677 ETH valued at $8.2 billion.



Last week, Tom Lee’s Bitmine purchased an additional 52,203 Ethereum [ETH] for $92 million as the market struggled to pick up pace. With this, Bitmine now has 5,672,956 ETH, valued at $10 billion. 

For context, Ethereum’s price was in the bear market, trading at $1,689.19 at press time following a 2.51% decline over the previous day. The spot ETH ETF, meanwhile, has been experiencing a run of outflows, with $66.1 million recorded on the 22nd of June.

In addition to amassing ETH, Bitmine also has 4,718,677 ETH staked in total, valued at $8.2 billion at an average price of $1,733 per ETH.  This raises the question of why Bitmine is adding ETH despite weak market momentum.

A prominent $XRP community figure and crypto founder has urged investors not to sell all of their $XRP holdings.

$XRP is currently facing one of its most difficult periods in recent years, down 40% since the beginning of 2026. This sharp decline has triggered panic among investors across the market, leading to sustained selloffs.

Despite the downturn, $XRP commentator and Black Swan Capitalist founder Versan Aljarrah believes investors should avoid selling all their holdings, arguing that $XRP could protect them from the gradual decline of the traditional financial system.

Call for Investors to Keep a Core $XRP Position

In an X post, Aljarrah advised investors to always keep a core $XRP position instead of selling their entire holdings. According to him, $XRP could act as a hedge for holders as the existing financial system continues to weaken.

His latest comments reflect a view he has held for years. Notably, Aljarrah sees $XRP as more than a speculative asset meant for short-term trading. However, he considers it a long-term infrastructure asset that could have an important role in the next stage of the global financial system.

Most market commentators who share Aljarrah’s sentiments believe the world is moving through a major wealth transition led by digital assets, the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), and precious metals.

In this environment, they see $XRP as a bridge asset that can provide liquidity and support settlements, while stablecoins like RLUSD have different settlement needs.

Long-Standing $XRP Thesis

Aljarrah’s recent statement follows comments he has made in the past. While speaking on why investors should own $XRP in January 2025, he suggested that holding the crypto asset allows investors to become their own bank and lender. “Few will understand, but that kind of freedom is always under attack. Never let it go,” he added.
