Ethereum is seeing strong network growth, and a new Etherealize breakdown of Token Terminal’s Ethereum Q1 2026 performance report explains why. Even though lower fees might look negative at first, they’re actually part of Ethereum’s plan to make the network cheaper and easier to use.

That strategy seems to be working. Over the past year, monthly active users jumped 85.9%, transactions rose 81.5%, and network throughput increased 81.7%, showing much higher overall activity. And the growth isn’t slowing down. 

The upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade is expected to more than triple the gas limit, while Ethereum’s long-term roadmap aims for 10,000 TPS and faster finality by 2029.

Ethereum’s user base remained one of the largest in crypto despite a broader market slowdown.

Stablecoins: $178.9 billion
Tokenized Funds: $19.4 billion (+73.1% YoY)
Tokenized Commodities: $4.7 billion (+325.9% YoY)
Record User Growth on Ethereum
One of the biggest highlights was user activity.

Based on the report, monthly active users reached an all-time high of 13.2 million, up 53.5% from the previous quarter and nearly 86% compared to a year ago. Whereas, the transaction count hit a record 200.4 million, while network throughput climbed to 25.78 transactions per second.

At the same time, Ethereum layer-1 fees dropped to $39.9 million, down nearly 48% quarter-over-quarter. The decline came as network upgrades made transactions cheaper and increased data capacity.

In simple terms, more people are using Ethereum while paying less to transact.

While short-term market weakness continues to worry investors, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson said that many traders are missing the bigger catch. Speaking in a recent podcast, Hoskinson urged the crypto community to stop focusing on daily price swings and instead pay attention to the massive long-term growth happening across the industry. Cardano, he noted, often benefits from a long-term focus over reacting to short-term market moves.

“The Long-Term We Win”

At the same time, he also shared new details about his conversations with SpaceX, revealing that discussions touched on Starlink and future communication technologies. Notably, Cardano’s community has also speculated on these advancements and their potential impacts.

Hoskinson made it clear that short-term price drops do not change his overall outlook on crypto, especially regarding Cardano development and adoption.

“Crypto is the opt out. Crypto is the exit. Crypto is the solution,” Hoskinson said.

According to him, market ups and downs are normal, but the broader trend remains firmly upward. He pointed out that the crypto industry already has around 550 million users worldwide and expects that number to grow to one billion by 2030. As a result, Cardano could see even greater adoption in the coming years.

Hoskinson also predicted that a good portion of global financial assets could eventually move on-chain, with Cardano potentially playing a significant role.

According to CryptoQuant analytics, the Spot Taker CVD remained buyer-dominant, revealing that market buy orders continued to outweigh sell orders across the observed period. The trend suggested buyers had not fully stepped away even as the token corrected from its local high.

While price moved lower, spot demand remained relatively firm, creating an interesting divergence between market activity and price action.

Such conditions often reflect accumulation behavior rather than widespread capitulation.

Nevertheless, buyers still faced the challenge of absorbing supply from traders who secured profits during the rally.

If spot demand continues strengthening, $AXS could stabilize above current levels.

Otherwise, persistent selling pressure could delay any meaningful recovery attempt over the near term.
